How Does the Bronze Serpent on the Pole Preach the Gospel of Messiah?

By Maria Merola

The prophetic picture we see in the Hebrew word for “serpent” (nachash) gives us a hint that our Messiah was destined to destroy the power of this creature, who has caused the whole world to be deceived!

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:14 And Yahuwah Elohiym said unto the serpent [nachash], Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life:

*Hint: the Hebrew word for “eat” in the above passage is “akal” and it means the following: to destroy, to burn up, to consume, to devour.

That old serpent called “The devil” has been cursed to eating dust all the days of his life, and we humans are made from “The dust of the earth.” It's no wonder Satan desires to “devour” (eat, consume) YaHuWaH's people:

Aleph Keefa (1st Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.

The term “fiery serpent” is therefore, an allusion to the idea that the serpent will either devour those who are disobedient, (by taking them with him into the lake of fire); or the obedient will devour and destroy the serpent by overcoming him by the blood of the lamb!

Bamidbar (Numbers) 21:8 And YHWH said unto Mosheh, Make you a fiery serpent [saraph, nachash], and set it upon [Aleph, Taw & Waw] a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he LOOKS UPON [Aleph, Taw Waw], shall live.

Bamidbar (Numbers) 21:9 And Mosheh made a serpent of brass, [nachash nechosheth] and put it upon [Aleph, Taw & Waw] a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent [nachash] had bitten/struck [Aleph, Taw & Waw] man, when he BEHELD/LOOKED UPON the serpent of brass [nachash nechosheth], he lived.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:15 And I will put enmity [hatred] between you (the serpent/nachash) and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He [Aleph & Taw] shall bruise [crush] your head, and you shall bruise [crush] his heel.

The word “nachash” in Hebrew is spelled with three letters:

Nun = the seed, posterity, descendant (which is Messiah).

Chet = the fence, the wall, to go outside the camp, to divide in half.

Shin = sharp teeth, to eat, to devour, to consume.

What is the message in these three Hebrew letters for “NaChaSh?” The Seed of the Woman (Nun), who is Messiah, would later on in history “Make the journey outside the city walls of Jerusalem” (Chet) to the Place of the Skull (at the base of the Mount of Olives), where Abraham also offered up his son Yitzchaq (Isaac).

When Yahuwshuwa was nailed to Two Trees aka Two Crossed Sticks, he destroyed, devoured, consumed, crushed the power (authority, head) of the serpent!

The ordinance of the Red Heifer, (according to Numbers 19) was to be enacted when the nation of Yisra’el had shed innocent blood. The morning before our Messiah was crucified, the people shouted “Crucify him!”

They had shed his innocent blood, which is why he had to perform the ordinance of the Red Heifer! The Red Heifer was to be escorted “Outside the city walls” of Jerusalem (Chet), where he would be killed, and then burned [saraph] into ashes aka “devoured, consumed, burned” (Shin).

The ashes had to be “beaten, crushed, and pulverized into powder” using hammers and rods (just like when they whipped him 39 times). The High Priest would then “wash his hands” next to the dead body of the innocent person, and over the Red Heifer; He would then declare the following words:

Debariym (Deuteronomy) 21:6-7 “Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.”

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 27:24 Pontius Pilate “Took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person…”

*Explanation: Pontius Pilate washing his hands instead of the High Priest, was showing us that the gospel message would (from here on out) go to the gentile nations, and would be taken away from the Kingdom of Yahuwdah (Judah) at that time in history.

The ashes of the Red Heifer were to be collected into a “clean place.” Joseph of Arimathea donated his tomb, in which never a dead body had been laid, or in other words “a clean place!” The ashes of the Red Heifer had to be mixed with water, and made into a cleansing solution.

The ashes of the heifer were used to cleanse the articles in the Temple; or to cleanse a person who had touched a dead body. Our Messiah not only portrayed the role of the Passover Lamb, but he also portrayed the role of the ashes of the Red Heifer that were burned/saraph, and then beaten (destroyed), just like the “head” (authority) of the serpent was also crushed!

What does the head represent? The serpent’s teeth (fangs) are in his head, and that is where the poison comes from. The serpent also deceived the woman in the garden with his “forked tongue” and this means that his tongue (inside his head) was also “crushed!”

The “heel” is an allusion to the inheritance that Jacob grabbed away from his brother Esau in the womb. YaHuWaH told Joshua and the children of Yisra’el “Every place upon which your foot shall tread, I have given it to you!”

The land was their inheritance! We are commanded to “Tread upon serpents and scorpions!” (Luke 10:19). Our Messiah washed the “feet” of his inheritance, (his followers) in John 13. The Prodigal son received “Shoes on his feet” when he repented and returned to the Father! (Luke 15:22). He also received a “Double Portion Inheritance,” after squandering the first one. This, this word “NaChaSh” tells the story of the Gospel of Messiah!

The Gospel of Moses in the Wilderness

By Maria Merola

© Copyright Double Portion Inheritance, September 2009

Many have misunderstood the mysterious account of the bronze serpent on the pole in Numbers 21:8-9. And yet, the entire gospel message was clearly being illustrated through this event, wherein the nation Yisra
’el would to look upon, the one whom they would later pierce, so that they might live and not die. As humans, it goes against our finite understanding, when we ponder the reasons why Elohiym would instruct Moses to fashion an image that would later-on become an idol that needed to be destroyed by King Hezekiah in 2nd Kings 18:4. However, this all the more explains why the Almighty wants us to look upon something that would remind us of “The sting of sin and death” (1st Corinthians 15:55-56), to bring us to repentance.

Reading Zacharyahuw (Zechariah) 12:10 in my Paleo Pictograph esword, the word “ME” is not there in the Hebrew text, but the Aleph & Taw is there instead! The entire chapter of Zacharyahuw (Zechariah) 12,  YaHuWaH is speaking of himself in the “first person” (singular), and this is what he says:

“They shall LOOK UPON ME [ALEPH & TAW] whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for HIM as one mourns for his only Son!”

This means that YaHuWaH himself, became the Son, the ALEPH & TAW, and was pierced for us!

In Bamidbar (Numbers) 21, the entire chapter is about the children of Yisra’el murmuring and complaining against YaHuWaH and his servant Mosheh. To punish them, YaHuWaH sent “FIERY SERPENTS” to bite them.

But what does this mean? Were these snakes literally on fire?

For many years, I had often wondered what this phrase “fiery serpents” means, as I envisioned snakes that literally had flames emanating off of their skin. However, the English translators did the best they could with the Hebrew text, without fully understanding the meaning. It wasn’t until years later, (when modern medicine discovered that snake venom causes it’s victims to feel as if they are literally on fire), that the meaning of the fiery serpents became clear to me. So you see, it was not the snakes that were on fire in Numbers 21!

This phrase “fiery serpents” is poetic language for the phrase “poisonous snake,” as clearly defined in the Hebrew Concordance:

#H8314 saraph saw-rawf' from 8313; burning, i.e. (figuratively) poisonous (serpent); specifically, a saraph or symbolical creature (from their copper color):--fiery (serpent), seraph.

Therefore this word has more than one meaning in Hebrew:

1.) Something that burns or is burning.
2.) A poisonous serpent whose victims feel as if they are on fire.
3.) A six-winged Seraphim that looks as if it is on fire, because it radiates the light of YaHuWaH at the throne in heaven.

Here are a few examples of the way the word “saraph” is used elsewhere in Scripture:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 11:3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn [saraph] them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

Bamidbar (Numbers) 19:5 And one shall burn [saraph] the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn.

Judging from the context of Numbers 21, it is easy to see that the instructions that Yah had given to Moses was to fashion an image of these poisonous serpents, and to set it up on a pole as a “sign” of their future savior!

What do we need to be saved from? Who was the first one that caused humanity to sin in the garden? It was obviously the serpent!
And what will our fate be if we continue to obey the serpent?

Our Messiah told us that the Lake of Fire has been prepared for the devil and his angels:

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, you CURSED, into EVERLASTING FIRE, prepared for the devil and his angels.

If we obey the serpent, we will end up burning in everlasting fire!

Thankfully, there is only one antidote for the serpent’s bite. We know that the antidote for the curse of sin and death is the Sacrificed Lamb!

Recently, scientists have discovered that the blood of lambs contains an antidote against poisonous snake venom Sheep’s Blood Provides Rattlesnake Anti-venom.

Now we can begin to understand why YaHuWaH commanded Mosheh to make an image of a “saraph nachash” (a fiery serpent). It’s because he wanted Yisra’el to be reminded of the first sin in the garden, and how it brought the curse of sin and death upon humanity. He also wanted them to see a prophetic picture of their future savior who would “Became a curse for us,” so that he could destroy the power of the serpent.

In Numbers 19, YaHuWaH gave us an ordinance to burn [saraph] a perfect Red Heifer, which would later become a prophetic picture of our Messiah, as seen in the Aleph (the head of the bull or an ox). Whenever the nation of Yisra’el had shed innocent blood, the Red Heifer ordinance was to be enacted by the Priests in the Temple.

The slain Red Heifer was to be “BURNED” or SARAPH!

The Ashes of the Red Heifer was for the cleansing of the altar, and for those who had shed innocent blood, or who those had touched a dead body.

In Numbers 21:8-9, the Aleph, Waw & Taw is right next to the word “pole,” and it is also in front of the phrase “SHALL LOOK UPON!”

The Bronze Serpent on the Pole is therefore a prophetic picture of our Messiah who “BECAME SIN FOR US, WHO KNEW NO SIN!” (see 2nd Corinthians 5:21).

In this next verse, the word “POLE” means a “SIGN!”

Bamidbar (Numbers) 21:8 And YHWH said unto Mosheh, Make you a Seraph [FIERY SERPENT] and put it upon ALEPH, WAW & TAW [AS A SIGN] POLE: and it shall come to pass, that everyone that is bitten, SHALL LOOK UPON ALEPH, WAW & TAW and LIVE.

Bamidbar (Numbers) 21:9 And Mosheh made a SERPENT OF BRASS [NACHASH NECOSHETH], and put it upon a pole [AS A SIGN], and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten ALEPH & TAW [MAN/ADAM], when he BEHELD THE SERPENT OF BRASS, HE LIVED!

*Note: The KJV says “any man” in Numbers 21:9. However the word “any” is not there in the text!

Therefore it should say: “If the serpent had bitten man [iysh or Adam], when he BEHELD [LOOKED UPON] the serpent of brass he lived!”

Why a serpent of brass? How does one make a serpent of brass? To make an image, the copper/bronze must be BURNED IN THE FIRE!

This is a picture of the fiery serpent being devoured/destroyed in the fire!

Therefore, the image of the “BRONZE SERPENT ON THE POLE,” was a prophetic picture of our Messiah Yahuwshuwa who “BECAME A CURSE FOR US” (see Deuteronomy 21:3 & Galatians 3:13).

The Serpent in the garden was “CURSED” above all animals on the earth, because he tempted Eve, and she ate of the “Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil.” She in turn, gave to her husband, and by ONE MAN (Adam) SIN ENTERED THE WORLD! (see Romans 5:12).

The Apostle Yahuwchanon (John) accurately saw the bronze serpent on the pole as a prophetic picture of our Messiah, for the Hebrew translation of John 3:14 shows us the Aleph & Taw again!

Yahuwchanon (John) 3:14 And as Mosheh LIFTED UP [ALEPH & TAW] THE SERPENT in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.

The serpent was lifted up on the Taw, or the cross, as a prophetic “sign” for Yisrael, and for us today. As a matter of fact, the Hebrew word for “pole” in Numbers 21:8-9 also means “a sign, a signal.”

Something else that I find rather interesting is that the Hebrew word for “eat” in Genesis chapter 3, is as follows:

#H398 'akal aw-kal' a primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively), burn up, consume, devour (-er, up), dine, eat (-er, up), feed (with), food, freely, wise (-deed, plenty), (lay) meat.

If eating (akal) can also mean to burn, how can we look at the account in Genesis 3 with new eyes?

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat [burn], and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat [burn].

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat [burn].

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:13 And the YHWH Elohiym said unto the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat [burn].

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:14 And YHWH Elohiym said unto the serpent, Because you have done this, you are CURSED above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat [burn] all the days of your life.

The word “dust” in the above passage is also described as the material that YaHuWaH used to create mankind:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 2:7 And YHWH Elohiym formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

#H6080 `aphar aw-far': a primitive root: meaning either to be gray or perhaps rather to pulverize; used only as denominative from 6083, to be dust:--cast (dust).

#H6083 `aphar aw-fawr' from 6080; dust (as powdered or gray); hence, clay, earth, mud:--ashes, dust, earth, ground, morter, powder, rubbish.

As humans, we are created from the dust of the earth, and part of the curse, is that the serpent would have to “eat dust,” which can also mean to “devour or destroy” humanity!

Aleph Keefa (1st Peter) 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.

Ultimately, that old serpent, the devil wants to see us burn alive in the lake of fire for all of eternity. I am reminded of what the Apostle Shaul (Paul) wrote in 1st Corinthians 7, when he used the word “burn” to describe desire or lust:

Aleph Qorintiym (1st Corinthians) 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

The Greek Concordance defines the word “burn” as follows:

#H4448. puroo poo-ro'-o from 4442; to kindle, i.e. (passively) to be ignited, glow (literally), be refined (by implication), or (figuratively) to be inflamed (with anger, grief, lust):--burn, fiery, be on fire, try.

Yisrael was often described as burning with desire or lust for their idols (Numbers 11:34; Psalm 106:14).

Tehilliym (Psalm) 106:14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted Elohiym in the desert.

In Romans 1:27, the Apostle Shaul (Paul) describes the sin of homosexuality:

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

It now becomes evident that the burning of fiery serpent on the pole, has a much deeper meaning than what many of us have originally thought. We can see that the word “saraph” (burning or fiery) pertains to the sensation that the victims of snake bites experience from the venom or poison. We can also see that the word “saraph” (burning or fiery) pertains to something that literally burns or is devoured, and destroyed, as seen in the word #H398 akal, which means to eat, burn up, consume, devour.

Could this be the reason why our Messiah allowed his body to be destroyed on the cross?

Romiym (Romans) 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Can you now see why the Red Heifer had to be completely burned down into ashes, (and then beaten/pulverized into powder by the Levites)? Can you see how this is a picture of how our Messiah redeemed humanity by destroying the nature of the serpent that was passed onto us by the serpent himself? It makes sense that the bronze serpent on the pole was meant to show us the ugliness of our sins, causing us to repent!

For if we do not repent, and allow the nature of the serpent to be destroyed in us, we shall ultimately be cast alive in the Lake of Fire along with the devil and his fallen angels:

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, THAT OLD SEPRENT, called THE DEVIL, and SATAN, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The Caduceus of Hermes vs the Fiery Serpent of Moses

By Maria Merola
© Copyright Double Portion Inheritance, September 2014

Over the years, there have been a few people who have written to me asking about the difference between the Caduceus symbol (often associated with the Medical Industry), and the bronze serpent on a pole fashioned by Moses in the Bible.

It is a reasonable question, since there are a few similarities. However, the differences between these two symbols helps to paint a prophetic picture of the good news of our Messiah, Yahuwshuwa.

In the book of Numbers, we read an account in the 21st chapter, about how YaHuWaH sent fiery serpents to bite the children of Yisra’el while they were sojourning in the wilderness. This was due to their sin of murmuring against the Almighty, and his servant Moses.

However, despite the fact that they were deserving of death, Yah instructed Moses to give them the antidote for these poisonous snake bites, which resulted in those who had been bitten being healed. To learn more, I highly recommend reading my other blog: Why Does the Bronze Serpent on the Pole Picture Messiah?

Therefore, we have two opposing messages in these symbols:

Caduceus = Two Serpents on One Pole.

Cross of Messiah = One Serpent Destroyed on Two Poles/Two Trees.

You will notice that the Caduceus features TWO SERPENTS, because the devil has infected BOTH HOUSES of Yisra’el, (causing division). In the final days before the return of Messiah, that old devil called “The serpent” will attempt to UNITE these two kingdoms on ONE POLE/ONE SCEPTER under the One World Religion of Anti-Messiah.

Satan is notorious for counterfeiting our Messiah, and his final showdown will involve attempting to unify all the world religions under himself. This will be the test that will separate the wheat from the tares; for those who are the true sheep of Messiah will not be deceived by this impostor. The true sheep have already been reconciled to Elohiym and to one another, for they do not succumb to the adversary’s devises.

Ephesians 2:16 explains:

Ephsiym (Ephesians) 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto Elohiym in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.

What is does the word “enmity,” mean? It means “strife, hatred, discord, hostility.” The first mention of this word “enmity,” is in Genesis 3:14-15:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise [crush] your head, and you shall bruise [crush] his heel.

The dividing of the Two Houses of Yisra’el began with the unintended marriage of Jacob to Leah, which caused “enmity, jealousy, strife, hostility, discord.” However, despite the fact that Jacob was tricked into a marrying Leah, YaHuWaH had a prophetic purpose for bringing them together, because they were both “The firstborn.”

Rachel is symbolic of the Kingdom of Yahuwdah (Judah) because she was married to Jacob “last,” as she was also the second-born of Laban. In the end of days, the prophet Zacharyahuw (Zechariah) foretold about the day when the Kingdom of Yahuwdah (Judah) will finally be saved, as they will finally behold their Messiah “face-to-face” (Zechariah 12:10).

It will be this event that will bring about the unification of the Two Houses of Yisra’el, which will result in the imprisonment of adversary, and all the strife, vexation, and envy that he has incited between these two kingdoms. The prophet Isaiah foretold of this day, when these two kingdoms will not longer have “enmity,” towards one another:

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 11:13 The envy also of Ephrayim shall depart, and the adversaries of Yahuwdah (Judah) shall be cut off: Ephrayim shall not envy Yahuwdah (Judah), and Yahuwdah (Judah), shall not vex Ephraiym.

But Yahuwshuwa is a representation of the fiery serpent being destroyed on TWO TREES or TWO CROSSED STICKS, because he has ABOLISHED THE DIVISION of the Two Houses, making them ONE!

Through this story in the book of Numbers, YaHuWaH was showing us a prophetic picture of ONE HOUSE of Yisra’el being united under his ONE SCEPTER, UNDER ONE KING!

Laminin Cells in the Human Body

Medical Journals have revealed to us that the human body contains millions of cells called Laminins. These cells are what literally holds our bodies together. If we did not have Laminins, our bodies would fall apart.

Some have tried to rationalize that because Laminins have a three-stranded coil that wraps around the cross-shaped cell, it was not intended to be a sign from our Creator of Intelligent Design.

However, we have clues from Scripture that these three-stranded coils are meant to symbolize the Two Houses of Yisra’el:

Ecclesiastes 4:12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

A threefold cord is like a braid. The Laminin cell displays a cross with two other cords wrapped around it to symbolize BOTH HOUSES OF YISRA’EL!

Ephesians 2:14-15 says that Messiah has made both “Jews & Gentiles,” aka “The Two Divided Kingdoms of Ephrayim & Yahuwdah/Judah” into “ONE BODY BY THE CROSS!”

The Laminin Cell perfectly illustrates this by showing us the cross, and two strands coiled around it to symbolize the Two Divided Kingdoms coming back together in Messiah! When you stop to think about it, the two coils wrapping around the cross is like the Caduceus with two serpents wrapped around it. This means that the Two Divided Kingdoms were never the plan of our Creator, and that Satan is the one who has caused the division.

The Caduceus also has wings, because Satan is a fallen angel that wants to be worshipped. The Greco/Roman Mythology character of Hermes (the Romans knew him as Mercury), carries a wand was a caduceus (a winged staff with two snakes wound around it). The Roman myth of Asclepius and the snake became known as Toxicological Symbols in Ancient Greece and Rome. Asclepius was supposedly “The god of healing and medicine,” (obviously a counterfeit of Messiah).

The Caduceus on the left side of the above illustration represents the serpent in the garden who brought the curse of sin and death upon all of humanity.

The Bronze Serpent on the right side represents the one who became a curse for us, having slain the enmity (hatred) of the serpent against all of humanity!

The one on the left is a cursed idol, and an abomination. The one on the right tells the good news of Messiah, who destroyed the power of sin, death, and the curse of the serpent!

The one on the left is poisonous, and leads to eternal death. The one on the right is the antidote for the poison, and leads to eternal life.

The Dictionary defines this term “Antidote” as follows: A medicine or drug, or agent that counteracts or neutralizes the effects of a poison.

Who is the physician that will heal his people?

Yirmeyahuw (Jeremiah) 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

The Antidote:

1st Yahuwchanon (John) 3:8 He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of Elohiym was manifested, THAT HE MIGHT DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL.

An antidote is often created by using the same substance as a virus or a poison, (in smaller doses), so that the human body will make new antibodies that fight off the virus if it should attack the cells. Our Messiah understood these things long before Modern Medicine, because he is our Creator! He used the poison of the serpent to create the antidote, which is the blood of the Lamb!

For many years scientists have explored ways to develop antidotes for the poisons of snakes. Years ago they used horses, but today many places use lamb or sheep to develop these anti-venoms that neutralize the effects of snake venom.

They would inject a lamb with specified quantities of venom. The blood of the lambs would immediately go to work, producing antibodies to combat the venom.

When the blood of the lambs have generated enough antibodies, those antibodies would be extracted from the blood of that lamb and an anti-venom would be formulated.

When a person now is bitten by a similar snake, that same anti-venom is administered, and it neutralizes the effects of the venom within the victim.

*Disclaimer: The Torah commands us not to consume blood of any kind, whether from an animal or a human (see Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 7:26-27; Acts 15:29).

The fact that Scientists have found that sheep’s blood contains anti-venom from a snake bite, is only meant to be a METAPHOR of Messiah Yahuwshuwa’s blood!

This Scientific fact sends out a message to the world, that the only thing that can set us from from the Serpent’s bite, is the Blood of Messiah, Yahuwshuwa! See these news articles:

What is the Mark of Cain?

By Maria Merola

Some people may object to the idea that Cain was given a mark of protection, since he was the first murderer in the history of humanity. As a matter of fact, some have postulated that because Cain was a murderer, he must literally be a spawn of Satan himself. Now, there is no question that Cain murdering his brother, Abel was a wicked thing to do, and this was deserving of death.

Cain’s heart was filled with evil, and this should give us pause, because, we have all inherited the same sinful nature as Cain. If not for the blood of Messiah, none of us are better than he was. Therefore we should pause before casting judgement against him too hastily. Even King David recognized that he was born with a sinful nature:

Tehilliym (Psalm) 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Let’s take a look at a few Scriptures in the Briyth Chadashah (New Testament) concerning Cain:

Abriym (Hebrews) 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto Elohiym a more excellent sacrifice than Qayin (Cain), by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, Elohiym testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaks.

Yahuwchanon Aleph (1st John) 3:12 Not as Qayin (Cain), who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

Yahuwdah (Jude) 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Qayin (Cain), and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korach.

Let’s consider for a moment that all of us as human beings are no better than Cain, because it was our sinful nature that was responsible for our Messiah’s death on the cross. Therefore, all of us are murders from the heart, just as Cain was. How many of us have harbored unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment in our hearts towards other fellow believers? Yahuwshuwa taught us that if we have anger or hatred in our hearts towards a fellow believer, we have already committed murder.

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 5:21 You have heard that it was said of them of old time, You shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Yahuwchanon Aleph (1st John) 3:15 Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

We are told that if we fall away from the faith of Yahuwshuwa, we are crucifying him all over again, and that all of us our guilty of sin before YaHuWaH.

Abriym (Hebrews) 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of Elohiym afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and YHWH has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Romiym (Romans) 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of Elohiym;

Romiym (Romans) 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Therefore, when we read about Cain murdering his brother, Abel in the Scriptures, we are meant to see a picture of ourselves, murdering our own Messiah, every time we sin!

We can now begin to understand why YaHuWaH placed a mark of protection on Cain. Cain represents sinful humanity. And thankfully, YaHuWaH has not given up on us, but instead, he sent his own son to die in our place!

In Bereshiyth (Genesis) 4:15 Qayin (Cain) was given a mark of protection by YaHuWaH.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 4:15 And YHWH said unto him, Therefore whosoever slays Qayin (Cain), vengeance shall be taken on him SEVENFOLD. And YHWH set a MARK [OWTH] upon Qayin (Cain), lest any finding him should kill him.

In the above passage, the Hebrew word for mark is as follows:

#H226 'owth oth probably from 225 (in the sense of appearing); a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.:--mark, miracle, (en-)sign, token.

The first thing I want to show you is a screenshot of Genesis 4:15 on my esword program with Paleo Pictograph fonts. As you can see, there are two Aleph & Taw’s in this passage, because in the future, YaHuWaH knew that both Houses of Yisra’el were going to go astray. Cain is therefore a prophetic picture of sinful humanity, and especially both Houses of Yisra’el. Next, you will see another screen shot where I illustrate where these letters appear in the Hebrew text.

Every time we see #853 in the Hebrew Concordance, it is the following word:

#H853 'eth ayth apparent contracted from 226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely):--(as such unrepresented in English).

As you can see, this word “eth,” (pronounced like the number  “8”), is an object pointer in a sentence. However, it is also a prophetic picture of our Messiah, who is called “The Alpha & Omega,” in the Greek translation of Revelation 1:8 & 11; 21:16; 22:13. However, since the Book of Revelation was first written in the Hebrew tongue (Revelation 9:11; 16:16) by the Apostle John, we know that he would have written “The Aleph & Taw,” which is the first and last letter of the Hebrew Alphabet.

But why would Yahuwshuwa refer to himself the first and last letter of the Alphabet? It is because he wants us to know that he is the eternal one, the one who came first, the Father himself, YaHuWaH! But he also is the one who will come for his bride in the end of days!

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 41:4 Who has wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I YHWH, the first, and with [Aleph & Taw] the last; I am he.

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 44:6 Thus says YHWH the King of Yisra'el, and his redeemer YHWH of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no Elohiym.

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 48:12 Hearken unto me, O Yaaqob (Jacob) and Yisra'el, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

Chazown (Revelation) 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, [Aleph & Taw] the first and the last: and, What you see, write in a book, and send it unto the seven assemblies which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Chazown (Revelation) 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Chazown (Revelation) 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, [Aleph & Taw] the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

This mark given to Cain in Genesis 4:15 is a “covenant mark,” which proves that Qayin (Cain) was not a “Serpent Seed,” as many have purported. Contrary to what many are teaching these days, Eve did not have sexual relations with the serpent. To learn more, please see my other blog: The Serpent Seed Doctrine: True or False?

It wasn't until Genesis 6:4 that the Nephilim showed up in Scripture. That doctrine comes from Gnosticism/Kabbalah, and the Jesuits/Illuminati also teach it. This “Serpent Seed,” doctrine was taught by Hitler as an excuse to exterminate 6 million Yahuwdiym (Jews) in Nazi Germany. The Nazi's taught that “All Jews are the Serpent Seed,” and should be exterminated!

Even though Cain murdered his brother, King David, also had Uriah killed, so that he could have his wife Bathsheba. But guess what? King David repented, as seen in Psalm 51. And even though Joseph's brothers meant evil towards him, he still forgave them in the end, (when they wept bitterly and repented). Our Messiah (like Joseph) will forgive all those who “pierced,” him when they weep bitterly and repent! (see Zechariah 12:10).

The word “seven-fold” in Genesis 4:15 is as follows:

#H7651 sheba` sheh'-bah or (masculine) shibrah {shib-aw'}; from 7650; a primitive cardinal number; SEVEN (as the sacred full one); also (adverbially) SEVEN TIMES; by implication, a week; SEVEN-FOLD.

#H7650 shaba` shaw-bah' a primitive root; propr. to be complete, but used only as a denominative from 7651; TO SEVEN ONESELF, i.e. TO SWEAR, as if by repeating a declaration SEVEN TIMES:--adjure, CHARGE BY AN OATH.

The same one who has SWORN [SHABA] with an OATH [SHABA], is the same one who MARKED CAIN!

Tehilliym (Psalm) 110:4 YHWH has SWORN [SHABA] and will not repent, You are a priest forever after the order of Malkiy-Tzedeq (Melchizedek).

Hebrews 7:21 For those priests [The Sons of Aaron] were made WITHOUT AN OATH; but this [Melchizedek] WITH AN OATH by him that said unto him, YHWH SWORE [SHABA] and will not repent, You are a priest forever after the order of Malkiy-Tzedeq (Melchizedek).

The Afikomen Pictures the Marriage Supper of the Lamb!

By Maria Merola

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 53:5 But he was PIERCED for our transgressions, he was BRUISED for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his STRIPES we are healed.

I love the element in the Messianic Seder called “The Afikomen,” where the three sheets of Matzah are “broken” and then wrapped in a napkin to be “hidden.” The word “Afikomen” is a Greek word, which literally means “To be eaten at the end.” Why would there be a Greek word in a Jewish Passover?

You will be surprised to discover that the Jewish Passover Seder is entirely a construct of the Messianic Yahuwidym (Jews) in the 1st Century Jerusalem, (when Greek was the common language of the Roman Empire). It was during this time that our Messiah taught his disciples at this final Passover Meal, aka what some refer to as “The Last Supper.” To see historical evidence for his, go to this link:

Because the Afikomen is something eaten at the end, it reminds us of when our Messiah declared that moving forward (after his Passover meal), he would no longer be eating the Passover meal with his disciples until the end, when he returns to set up his kingdom here on earth (Luke 22:16).

It also tells us that at the end, the Yahuwdiym (Jews) who search for him will find him standing on the Mount of Olives, and they shall mourn for him whom they have pierced (Zechariah 12:10).

The napkin is also symbolic of the burial cloth our Messiah was wrapped in. Matzah has no leavening or yeast it it, therefore, it symbolizes that our Messiah is “That bread from heaven,” (John 6:51) who is also the sinless lamb (Exodus 12:5; 1st Peter 1:19).

The bread being without leaven reminds us that we are to rid our lives of all sin, and that Messiah was perfect and sinless (2nd Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15). The fact that there are three pieces of the Matzah hidden reminds us that our Messiah was hidden “In the heart of the earth for three days and three nights” (Matthew 12:40).

Interestingly, the Matzah is pierced and striped before being placed in the oven. This is a prophetic picture of our Messiah who was “pierced” (Psalm 22:16; John 19:34-37; Revelation 1:7) and by his “stripes” we were healed (Isaiah 53:5; 1st Peter 2:24).

The only person who is allowed to search for the Matzah is the youngest child in the home. This reminds us that many from the Kingdom of Yahuwdah (Judah) still are blinded to their Messiah, thus, he is “hidden” from their eyes (2nd Corinthians 3:14-16; Romans 11:7).

The youngest child going in search of the three pieces of Matzah reminds us that those who seek after Messiah, will find him, and will be given the “Hidden Manna” (Revelation 2:17).

For those who call this a “Rabbinical Tradition,” you couldn't be more wrong about that! Did you know that historically the Passover Seder Meal was a construct of the disciples of Yahuwshuwa? Before Messiah died on the tree, the Yahuwdiym (Jews) did not have a Seder Meal at Passover! The Passover Seder is a construct of Messiah himself and his disciples!

The Non-Messianic Jews were then forced to come up with their own version of a Passover Seder, in an attempt to “counter” or “supplant,” the Messianic Seder!

Our Messiah is still “HIDDEN,” from many of the Yahuwdiym (Jews), and the Afikomen is therefore, an allusion to this beautiful passage:

Yirmeyahuw (Jeremiah) 29:13 And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.

When those from the kingdom of Judah humble themselves as children, they will find him!

For our Messiah told us we must become “As a little child to enter into the Kingdom of Elohiym” (Matthew 18:3; Matthew 19:14).

We are shown that we must become “The least, before becoming great” (Matthew 9:48). For those who “Humble themselves shall be exalted” (Luke 14:11; 18:4).

The First Yom Kippur in the Garden of Eden

By Maria Merola אריאל

© Copyright Double Portion Inheritance, August 2016

Whenever someone asks me which of the seven biblical festivals is my favorite, my answer is “Yom Kippur, with Yom Teruah as a close second.” Most people will tell me that their favorite festival is either Passover, or Sukkot, and the reason for that is obvious.

Passover & Sukkot are celebrations that involve eating good food, dancing, and having a joyous time together with like-minded believers. It’s no wonder that most people choose either one of these as their answer.

Now, the glaring question remains, “Why is Yom Kippur my favorite of the seven festivals?” The most obvious reason is that it is one of the most misunderstood of all the seven festivals. Even the rabbis and sages to this day, do not fully understand the prophetic significance of this festival. However, for those of us who have an intimate relationship with our Messiah, we can see Yom Kippur typology interwoven into the narrative of the entire counsel of Scripture.

Beginning with Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3 & 4, “Yom Kippur” typology is expressed in the text, and it continues right up until the end, (in Revelation 19), when our Messiah Yahuwshuwa returns on what is called “The Day of Vengeance.”

In Revelation 19:2 we see our Messiah returning on a white horse (with his bride as his army) and ready to exact his perfect justice, on all the wicked people of the earth who persecuted his people. As a matter of fact, the word “avenged” is used to describe what our Messiah’s agenda will be when he returns.

Chazown (Revelation) 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 34:8 For it is the day of YHWH’s vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Tziyown (Zion).

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of YHWH, and the day of vengeance of our Elohiym; to comfort all that mourn;

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 63:4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

Yirmeyahuw (Jeremiah) 46:10 For this is the day of YHWH Elohiym of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for YHWH Elohiym of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

Luke 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Yom Kippur has a specific prophetic purpose, as it is all about judgement on the wicked, and exacting justice for those who have been wronged. Yom Kippur language is found throughout the writings of the prophet Yeshayahuw (Isaiah), as he describes in 42:16 “Making the crooked paths straight,” and righting all the wrongs. In Isaiah 58:6, Yom Kippur is the day when “The oppressed go free... and every yoke is broken.”

It is the day when everything that has been wrong with this world, (all the injustices) will finally be avenged and corrected by our Messiah. It will be on that day that the restoration of Yisra’el will begin:

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 58:12 And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which Elohiym has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

Now you can begin to understand why that future Yom Kippur, (when our Messiah returns as a ferocious lion), is a day that I am anticipating more than any other day in history.

And because our Messiah is also longing for justice, we too should be in one accord with him in his desire to see all things restored. Restored back to what? Back to the way they were before that old serpent, the devil, corrupted his beautiful creation.

It all began with the first sin that was ever committed. We are told that the first sin entered into the world through Adam, even though it was Chawah (Eve) who was deceived by the serpent. Why was Adam the one who was given the greater blame?

It’s because Adam knew full-well what he was doing, for he was not deceived. Shaul (Paul) wrote in Romans 5:12, that sin entered the world through Adam, but in his letter to Timothy, he wrote that Eve was in the transgression, because she was deceived. At first glance, this seems contradictory, but I submit to you that because Adam was formed first, he bears the greater blame, as well as the greater responsibility to redeem his bride. Adam is a prophetic picture of our Messiah, while Eve is a prophetic picture of the nation of Yisra’el.

Qorintiym Aleph (1st Corinthians) And so it is written, The first man Awdam (Adam) was made a living soul; the last Awdam (Adam) was made a quickening ruwach (spirit).

This is the same thing that happened with Aharown (Aaron) who was the High Priest over Yisra’el. Aaron was guilty of forming the golden calf, and because of this, he and his sons would have to bear the guilt forever, by risking their lives once per year on Yom Kippur.

If the High Priest had any sins in his own life that he had not repented for, he could die behind the veil, and this meant that the sins of the entire nation would not be atoned for that year.

Adam was also a High Priest in the garden, and because of this, he would have to risk his life, (just like Aaron and his sons) by taking on the role of the priest of his household. Being responsible comes with a heavy price. A captain of a ship must be the last one to exit the ship if the ship is sinking. He lays down his life for his passengers, because he is the leader.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

1st Timothy 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

1st Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Adam was the one who was responsible for allowing sin to enter the world, because he was not deceived when he disobeyed. He knew exactly what he was doing, for he had previously been warned directly by YaHuWaH:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 2:16 And YHWH Elohiym commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

Adam was warned before Eve was even formed from his rib. Did Adam give Eve the memo? Or, did he forget? Scripture does not tell us, but it’s obvious that Eve knew she was not supposed to eat of the forbidden tree, because she told the serpent that she and Adam were commanded not to eat of it.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which YHWH Elohiym had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, has Elohiym said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohiym has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.

This explains why Adam was responsible for causing sin to enter the world, because he was told directly by YaHuWaH’s voice, whereas Eve was warned through Adam’s instruction. It is far more intimate to be instructed by the voice of Yah directly, than through another human being.

For to be instructed directly by Yah is to receive the engrafted word into our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33; James 1:21). This means that Adam sinned directly against the voice of Elohiym. Eve also transgressed, because she believed the voice of the serpent, instead of believing the instruction given by Yah.

After Adam had already been instructed by YaHuWaH not to eat of “The Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil,” Elohiym formed the woman out of his rib, and telling them to become as one flesh:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 2:22 And the rib, which YHWH Elohiym had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

After Eve had disobeyed, Adam knew that that his wife was going to be banished from the garden, and he could not bear to be without her. This was not an excuse, but Eve had been taken out of his side, and made from his rib, because she was “Bone of his bone, and flesh of his flesh” (Genesis 2:23).

I am sure that Adam must have felt the heavy weight of responsibility for what his wife had done. My guess, is that he had been off somewhere playing with the animals, and not paying close attention to what Eve was doing. This is no different than today’s husbands who are caught up with sports, recreation, and television, but they often fail to function as the High Priest in their homes. The serpent must have waited for the perfect opportunity to get Eve alone (without Adam’s protection), so that he could entice her to eat of the forbidden tree.

Even though Scripture does not tell us when YaHuWaH “covered” Adam & Chawah (Eve), we get a hint that they were covered on Yom Kippur. The meaning of the word “kippur” (atonement), comes from another root word “kaphar” which means “to cover.”

This means the first “Day of Covering” took place in the Garden of Eden!

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did YHWH Elohiym MAKE COATS OF SKINS, AND CLOTHED THEM.

YaHuWaH himself, manifested as the High Priest (Melchizedek), as he “walked among them” in the garden. It was the Pre-incarnate Messiah Yahuwshuwa who performed the first “Yom Kippur” sacrifice to “cover the nakedness of their sins.”

In Leviticus 16, the High Priest is commanded to cast lots to see which of the “twin goats” is to be “killed,” and which one is to be “sent away.” Immediately after YaHuWaH “killed” a lamb (and covered Adam & Eve), he had to “send them away” as the “SCAPEGOAT.”

Immediately after atonement was made for Adam & Eve she “CONCIEVED” and bore two sons: Qayin (Cain) & Hebel (Abel).

This reminds me of “The Law of Jealousy,” in Numbers 5:11-31. This ordinance is a test for a woman suspected of committing adultery without a witness to corroborate. If her husband suspected her of cheating, he would take the woman to the Temple to perform this test.

And if she passed the test, (because she had not been unfaithful), she would go home and conceive a child by her husband. This was a supernatural sign that she was innocent. Similarly, although Eve was not innocent, she was made innocent by the blood of an innocent lamb dying in her place. This explains why the Apostle Shaul (Paul) made a reference to the woman being saved in child-bearing:

1st Timothy 2:15 Notwithstanding, she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

The names of these two brothers tells a story of the TWO HOUSES OF YISRA’EL.

The name “Cain” (Qayin) comes from this Hebrew root word as follows:

#H7069 qanah kaw-naw' a primitive root; to erect, i.e. create; by extension, to procure, especially by PURCHASE (causatively, sell); by implication to own:--attain, buy(-er), teach to keep cattle, get, PROVOKE TO JEALOUSY, possess (-or), PURCHASE, RECOVER, REDEEM.

*Explanation: The very definition of his name, is filled with Yom Kippur language!

In Revelation 19, on the Day of Atonement, our Messiah will return on a white horse, and he will REDEEM, PURCHASE, and RECOVER his bride! You will also notice that this word “qanah” means “TO PROVOKE TO JEALOUSY!”

In Romans 11:11, we are told that the Kingdom of Yahuwdah (Judah) fell from grace, and caused salvation to come to the gentiles aka “The House of Ephrayim,” in order to “Provoke Yisra’el to jealousy!”

Romiym (Romans) 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? Elohiym forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

Therefore, Cain represents the House of Yahuwdah (Judah) because they killed their own Messiah when they shouted “CRUCIFY HIM!”

The name Hebel (Abel) means the following:

#H1892 hebel heh'bel or habel {hab-ale'}; from 1891; EMPTINESS OR VANITY; figuratively, something transitory and unsatisfactory; often used as an adverb:--altogether, vain, vanity.

Even though Abel was righteous, the meaning of his name has a negative connotation. It’s because Abel died before he could bear children and fulfill his destiny. His life had been wasted by his brother Cain, and thus Adam & Eve had to experience the emptiness and vanity of the fallen world to where they had been sent into exile.

At Messiah’s first coming, the older brother in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, symbolized the Kingdom of Judah, while the younger brother represented the Kingdom of Yisra’el aka the Ten Tribes of Ephrayim, who were destined to become “A multitude of nations” (Genesis 48:19 & Romans 11:25).

The Tribe of Judah can be compared to Cain, (the older brother), and the Tribe of Ephrayim can be compared to Abel, the younger. However both Houses of Yisra’el have “TRADED PLACES” throughout throughout history. In these last days, Judah has become more like Ephrayim, and Ephrayim has become more like Yahuwdah (Judah).

To learn more about why Ephraiym & Judah appear to be trading places, see this blog: Two Conditions of the Human Heart Seen in Ephrayim & Judah

One would think that because Abel was righteous, his name would mean something positive, and Cain’s name should mean something negative. However, I suspect that there is another reason why the name “Hebel” means  means “emptiness, vanity, and unsatisfactory.”

I believe it is because there is this dichotomy that is constantly taking place with the Two Houses of Yisra’el, and it is directly related to the Twin Goats for Yom Kippur, outlined in Leviticus 16.

On Yom Kippur, the High Priest casts lots to see which of the two goats will be killed for the sins of the nation, and which of the goats will be sent away into the wilderness as the scapegoat. At various times throughout history, we see the Kingdom of Judah as the sacrificial goat, (when they were slaughtered in the Roman Siege), as well as in the Nazi Germany Holocaust.

Our Messiah came to portray the role of both goats, for both Houses of Yisra’el, so he could “Stand in the gap, and thereby repair the breach” between these two divided families.

We can observe a pattern, that throughout the history of Yisra’el, they are constantly going through some kind of transitory process. The Ten Northern Tribes were divorced, and then sent away into exile (like the scapegoat). The Two Southern Tribes of Judah & Benjamin have also been exiled, but twice in history, they were allowed to return back to Jerusalem, to rebuild.

Cain (who represents Judah) was guilty of slaying his brother Abel, and this is why he was sent into exile. This is just like the Kingdom of Judah who were guilty of slaying their own Messiah. Their punishment came forty years later, when they were sent into exile in the nations following the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

Throughout history, both Houses of Yisra’el have experienced exile (like the scapegoat) and at other times they experienced being slaughtered by their enemies (like the sacrificial goat). Thus, both houses have been punished for their sins, just like the Yom Kippur Twin Goats. Therefore, neither of these two kingdoms can claim superiority over the other; and thus, they will be reconciled and reunited in the end, when Messiah returns.

Abel represents the House of Ephrayim, (because Ephrayim was the younger son of Joseph), and yet, he was given the blessing of the “first-born son.”

Similarly, Cain was jealous of his younger brother (Abel) who was like Joseph’s brothers when they were jealous of the coat of many colors given to him by his father, Jacob.

Cain was chronologically the first-born, but just like Esau, (who was also the biological first-born), they both hated their younger brothers, and harbored murder in their hearts.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 4:7  If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And unto you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him.

*Explanation: The word “accepted” is Yom Kippur language, because our Messiah came to preach “The Acceptable Year of YaHuWaH” (Isaiah 61:2 & Luke 4:19), and thus setting free the captives from the curse of sin and death.

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

Qayin (Cain) is an archetype for all the future older brothers who were jealous of their younger brothers, and sought to slay them, thereby taking the inheritance. Esau was also like Cain, because he had the wrong attitude, and was willing to forfeit his inheritance for that which was temporary. And because Jacob valued his inheritance, Esau hated him.

Malakiy (Malachi) 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Romiym (Romans) 9:13 As it is written, Ya’aqob (Jacob) have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Qayin (Cain) represents the “SCAPEGOAT,” because he was “SENT AWAY.”

Hebel (Abel) represents the “SACRIFICIAL GOAT” because he was “SLAIN.”

Thus, in one respect, Cain is like the Kingdom of Judah, because he hated and killed his brother, (just as Judah killed their own Messiah). But in another way, Cain also is also like the Ten Northern Tribes of Ephrayim, because they were divorced and sent away into the Assyrian Captivity, as was Cain.

Abel in one way, represents the Kingdom of Judah, because he was slain (just like our Messiah who was from Judah); but in another way, he also represents the Ten Northern Tribes of Ephrayim, because he was given the favor and blessing of the first-born, even though he was the younger son.

Adam & Chawah (Eve) lost both of their sons as punishment for their sin in the garden. Similarly, King David (who was a King of Judah) was also punished for murdering Bathsheba’s husband (Uriah). David was like Cain, because he coveted his brother Uriah’s “little lamb” (Bathsheba). But the prophet Nathan caught David in his sinfulness and lies, when he told him a parable. This parable contains the same recurring them of Yom Kippur typology.

Shemuw’EL Beyt (2nd Samuel) 12:1 And YHWH sent Nathan unto Dawiyd (David). And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

*Explanation: The rich man is symbolic of Judah & Cain, while the poor man is symbolic of Ephrayim & Abel.

Shemuw’EL Beyt (Samuel) 12:2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:

Shemuw’EL Beyt (Samuel) 12:3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.

Shemuw’EL Beyt (Samuel) 12:4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.

*Explanation: The Prophet Nathan knew about the sins that David was hiding. So rather than confront him about it directly, he told him this parable to show David how his sin grieved YaHuWaH.

When David heard the story, he was enraged that the rich man stole the poor man’s only female lamb and killed it so that he could entertain his guest.

Shemuw’EL Beyt (Samuel) 12:5 And Dawiyd’s (David’s) anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As YHWH lives, the man that has done this thing shall surely die:

Shemuw’EL Beyt (Samuel) 12:6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

Shemuw’EL Beyt (Samuel) 42:7 And Nathan said to David, You are the man....

David tried to “cover” his sin with Bathsheba by killing her husband, Uriah. This is just like Adam & Eve trying to “cover” the nakedness of their sin with fig leaves. David was also like Cain, because he also tried to cover his sin with a lie:

Bereshiyth (Genesis) 4:9 And YHWH said unto Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?

David coveted Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba whose name in Hebrew means “Daughter of an oath!”

Her name is loaded with Yom Kippur typology, for it is the High Priest, Malkiy-Tzedeq (Melchizedek) who was sworn into his office by an oath, for he is the Kinsman Redeemer, and the only one who is able to redeem Yisra’el from their sins.

David is the one who wrote in Psalm 110:4 about Melchizedek being sworn with an oath for the day of judgement and wrath, which will be on Yom Kippur:

Tehilliym (Psalm) 110:1 YHWH has sworn, and will not repent, You are a priest forever after the order of Malkiy-Tzedeq (Melchizedek).

Tehilliym (Psalm) 110:5 Adonay at your right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

Tehilliym (Psalm) 110:6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

In Genesis 4:15, YaHuWaH pronounced “VENGEANCE” on anyone who slays Cain:

“And YHWH said unto him, Therefore whosoever slays Qayin (Cain), VENGEANCE shall be taken on him SEVENFOLD. And YHWH set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.”

And what is the mark that was place on Cain? To find out, see my other blog: What is the Mark of Cain?

On “The Seventh Day Sabbath Millennium,” the Future “DAY OF VENGEANCE,” on Yom Kippur, Yahuwshuwa will finally REDEEM, PURCHASE & RECOVER all that the enemy has stolen from Adam & Chawah (Eve) and their TWO SONS, who represent “BOTH HOUSES OF YISRA’EL!”

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 61:2 To proclaim the Acceptable year of YHWH, and THE DAY OF VENGEANCE OF OUR ELOHIYM; to comfort all that mourn;

Chazown (Revelation) 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has AVENGED the blood of his servants at her hand.

When YaHuWaH sent Adam & Chawah (Eve) out of the garden, they too were a prophetic picture of the Twin Goats on Yom Kippur.

To learn more about how our Messiah fulfilled the Twin Goats for Yom Kippur, see this blog: The Yom Kippur Twin Goats Fulfilled in Messiah.
