Messiah Seen in the Parable of the “Good Samaritan:” Freedom from Depression

Since 1981, I have ministered to people who suffer with depression, suicidal thoughts, and various addictions. In many of these cases, the solution to these people’s problems could have been solved very easily by following a simple biblical concept that the Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) taught me back in 1987.

However, so many of these people would turn to the medical professional first before turning to our Heavenly Father to treat their depression. Many of these problems have a “spiritual root” but they instead, go to a Psychiatrist who tells them that their problem is physical and so they attempt to treat a spiritual problem in the natural realm with drugs. The deception behind this however, is that depression is not a physical disorder and it cannot be treated with Pharmaceutical or Psychotropic drugs.

In many cases when I have prayed with people, the Spirit of YaHuWaH brought forth a “word of knowledge” (1st Corinthians 12:8). That word of knowledge has most often been “get off of the drugs, cast out the demons and begin to restore the mind by meditating on the word of YaHuWaH.”

I’ve told people for many years in my prayer counseling with them that there is no such thing as a “chemical imbalance” in the brain. All of these so-called medical conditions are merely inventions by the money-sucking con-artists in the Pharmaceutical and Psychiatric Industry.

Medical conditions known as “Attention Deficit Disorder” or “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” are non-existent outside of the medical industry. These conditions were given names in order to have an excuse to prescribe drugs. But in reality, these conditions can be easily treated by teaching the patient how to repent of sin and to take personal responsibility for their thoughts. Once we learn how to take these thoughts captive into obedience to the word of Elohiym, the imagined condition will disappear.

People who have been diagnosed with “Schizophrenia” are actually oppressed with a “Spirit of Fear.” Here is how to overcome this spirit:

2nd Timotiyos (Timothy) 1:7 For Elohiym has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

First of all, identify the “Strong Man” which is the “Spirit of Fear,” and then ask the Father to give you the Spirit of “power, love and a sound mind.” And then if the adversary comes back trying to oppress you again, have this verse handy on a note card ready to defeat him with the “sword of the spirit” (Ephesians 6:17). Simply personalize this verse for yourself by saying the following words:

Elohiym has not given me the spirit of fear, but one of power, and of love and of a sound mind!”

If you are struggling with addictions to nicotine, alcohol, drugs, food, pornography etc., you can overcome by personalizing this verse for yourself:

Romiym (Romans) 8:15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fearbut you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

First of all, identify the “Strong Man” which is the “Spirit of Bondage,” and then ask the Father to give you the “Spirit of adoption.” If the adversary comes back trying to oppress you again, have this verse handy on a note card ready to defeat him with the “sword of the spirit” (Ephesians 6:17). Simply personalize this verse for yourself by saying the following words:

“I have not been given the spirit of bondage again to fear, but I have received the spirit of adoption whereby I cry Abba Father!”

Depression comes from demon spirits and the spirit that is behind depression is called a “Spirit of Heaviness” (Isaiah 61:3). The cure is to “put on the garment of praise for the Spirit of Heaviness.”

YaHuWaH inhabits the praises of his people:

Tehilliym (Psalms) 22:3 But you are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Yisra’el.

In the presence of YaHuWaH there is fullness of joy! One cannot be depressed while dwelling in his presence:

Tehilliym (Psalms) 16:11 You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

King Sha’uwl (Saul) was a good example of a man who demonstrated manic depressive disorder. The root of his problem stemmed from an unrepentant heart. King Saul had rebelled against the word of YaHuWaH given through the prophet Shmuwel (Samuel) and he refused to acknowledge his sin and repent. And so YaHuWaH sent him a tormenting spirit in order to humble him. When Dawiyd (David) the humble little shepherd boy came to play the harp for him, the praise music brought with it the presence of YaHuWaH’s Spirit and thus the demons that tormented Sha’uwl (Saul)were temporarily bound and could not torment him.

However, as soon as Sha’uwl (Saul) was no longer abiding in the presence of YaHuWaH, those tormenting evil spirits came back to  him again:

1st Shmuwel (Samuel) 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from Elohiym was upon Shauwl (Saul), that Dawiyd (David) took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

The solution to depression, sickness and disease is to dwell in the presence of YaHuWaH in whom is fullness of joy!

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Tziyown (Zion), to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of YHWH, that he might be glorified.

The cure for depression has already been shown to us in the inspired word of Elohiym, yet many people who claim to have faith in Messiah turn to drugs and medical professionals who only make things worse for them. I cannot tell you how many times I have counseled someone to get off of the psychotropic drugs and to put their trust in YaHuWaH completely. When people do this, they are always set free and they always experience, peace, joy and victory!

For those who may have a difficult time believing that psychotropic drugs are harmful and dangerous, please read the article below by Doctor Mercola. Dr. Mercola has given proof in this article below that exposes the hidden agenda of the Insurance & Drug Companies who invented so-called chemical imbalances for profit:

“Frightening Story Behind the Drug Companies Creation of Medical Lobotomies.”

Watch the video below to see just how deceptive and harmful Psychotropic Pharmaceutical drugs are:

There are those who are now asking themselves after watching this video “how do I treat my depression without drugs?”

The Good Samaritan Cure

This simple and profound truth was taught to me by the Spirit of YaHuWaH back in 1987 about how we can be free from oppression. The key can be found in the parable of the “Good Samaritan.” Let us begin with the following verse:

Luqas (Luke) 10:30 And Yahuwshuwa answering said, A certain man went down from Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) to Yeriychow (Jericho), and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

*Note: Who is a thief and a liar? Who comes to kill, steal, and destroy? Yahuwshuwa told us in John 10:10 that it is the devil who does this. This man’s “raiment” (garment, symbolic of the white robe of righteousness) was taken from him. The man had been in Jerusalem, and this means that he had been pursuing a relationship with YaHuWaH. Jerusalem is where YaHuWaH has chosen to place his name (2nd Chronicles 12:13).

But now the man was leaving Jerusalem to go back home to Jericho. Could it be that this is why he was vulnerable to an attack? Could Jerusalem be a metaphor for his relationship with YaHuWaH? Once he left Jerusalem, that is when he fell victim to these thugs. This tells us that when we are abiding in the presence of YaHuWaH we are safe. But when we leave his presence, we are wide open for attack!

Luqas (Luke) 10:

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

*Note: We can see here that the Levite and the priest, who were supposed to be in ministry, did not care for the man. But the Samaritan (who was considered to be estranged from the covenant) was compassionate towards the man. Why would our Messiah, Yahuwshuwa be likened unto a Samaritan?

It is because we are told that we may be entertaining angels “unawares” when we care for our fellowman:

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 25:45 ....Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.

When we care for a stranger, (the least of these) we are caring for Yahuwshuwa. The prophecy in Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 61:1 which was read aloud by our Messiah reveals that he came to bind up the broken hearted:

Luqas (Luke) 4:18 The Spirit of YHWH is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

*Note: What does being bruised have to do with needing to be liberated? Well the Greek word here for “bruised” here is #2352 thrauoto crush, to break in pieces, shatter.

When a person is broken and crushed spiritually or emotionally, they are like a house with a broken window. A thief is able to easily access a house with a broken window! The devil has an “open door” when somebody is discouraged or broken-hearted. He lies to people and tells them that Elohiym does not care about them and thus they begin to doubt his goodness. Once they believe this lie, then Satan has access to their soul and a demon spirit gains a stronghold (a false idea) in their minds. If that stronghold is not cast down, they can eventually give in to the demon completely until the demon enters them and they are eventually possessed.

The parable of the Good Samaritan continued:

Luqas (Luke) 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever you spend more, when I come again, I will repay you.

In this parable, the man beaten on the side of the road represents humanity or mankind. Satan is the one who beats us up spiritually and mentally and leaves us for dead. But Yahuwshuwa Messiah is like that Good Samaritan who comes along and cares for us. What did the Good Samaritan do?

He first poured wine into the man’s wounds (symbolic of the blood of Messiah). His blood is symbolic of wine which acts as an antiseptic that kills the effects of germs in a wound or kills the effects of sin. Like germs, sin can spread to other parts of the body and cause more serious infection. If left untreated, the person can develop a staph infection and end up with worse diseases and ultimately loss of limbs and death.

Sin is the same way. The blood of Messiah is like an antiseptic that cleanses us from the effects of sin (just like germs) and harmful bacteria that has the potential to kill us if left untreated. What else did the Good Samaritan do? Secondly, he applied oil or balm to the man’s wounds. The Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) and the word of YaHuWaH is likened unto oil. We need oil in our lamps to light our path to his presence:

Tehilliym (Psalms) 119:105 Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

The Oil that Gives Us Joy Instead of Mourning

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Tziyown (Zion), to give unto them beauty for ashesthe oil of joy for mourningthe garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of YHWH, that he might be glorified.

The oil of joy is what the Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) imparts to us when we are free from sin. The oil in our lamps must also consist of calling upon the wonderful name of YaHuWaH:

Shir ha’Shiriym (Song of Solomon) 1:3 Because of the savour of your good ointments your name [shem] is as ointment [shemen) poured forth, therefore do the virgins love you.

The oil or balm of his name not only promotes healing to the wound but prevents it from being infected. This is the true medicine of our Messiah---not artificial drugs.

Power to Overcome the Devil in his Mighty Name!

Mishley (Proverbs) 18:10 The name of YHWH is a strong towerthe righteous run into it, and are safe.

The Hebrew word for “safe” in the above passage is #H7682 in the Concordance, which has the following definitions: to be high, be inaccessibly highto be too high for capture; to be high (of prosperity);to be high; to be set on highbe safely set on high; to be exalted of Elohiym.

This means that when you call upon the name of YaHuWaH, he sets you up so high that the devil cannot touch you! In Isaiah 58:14, we are told that when we honor the Sabbath day, YaHuWaH will cause us to ride upon the “high places” and he will feed us with the heritage of Yaaqob (Jacob)!

In the 4th chapter of Acts, Keefa (Peter) was apprehended for healing an impotent man, and he testified when they questioned him that this man was healed by the name of Yahuwshuwa ha’Mashiyach:

Ma’aseh Schlichiym (Acts) 4:

7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have you done this?

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Yisra’el, that by the name of Yahuwshuwa Mashiyach of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom Elohiym raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Healing Comes by Returning to Towrah

Malakiy (Malachi) 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and you shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

This prophecy above in Malachi, is about our Messiah who was born in the fourth millennium and the sun was also created by him on the fourth day of the week. In 2nd Peter 3:8, we are told that one day is like a thousand years with YaHuWaH. Hence, the “Sun of Righteousness” is a metaphor of our Messiah who created the sun on the fourth day of the week and he came to heal us in the fourth millennium.

The Hebrew word for “wings” in the above verse is “kanaph” which means the following: wing, extremity, edge, winged, border, corner, shirt, wing, extremity, skirt, corner of garment.

In Matthew 9:20, we read about a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years. The twelve years is a metaphor of the twelve tribes of Yisra’el. This woman is symbolic of the nation of Yisra’el who had been deemed “unclean” as they were sent away to the nations. This woman with the issue of blood was quaratined from the rest of the community and she had to live in seclusion for twelve years without being allowed to touch anyone according to Leviticus 15:25.

Isaiah’s prophecy below reveals that all of us as humans are unclean, and even our attempt at our own righteousness is like a menstration rag:

Yeshayahuw 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The Hebrew word for “filthy” is #H5708 which is the word “iddah.” This word literally means “menstration.” The woman with the issue of blood was not healed until she “touched” the hem or corner our of Messiah’s garment!

The “kanaph” was actually the corner of our Messiah’s garment where the “tziytzit” (fringes) are placed. In Numbers 15:38 & Deuteronomy 22:12, we are commanded to place fringes (tziyzit) on the four corners of our garments. These fringes must have a blue ribbon or thread going through them. What does the color blue symbolize? In Exodus 24:10 the Towrah (instructions) were given to Mosheh (Moses) and the seventy elders who went up to Mount Sinai, and there YaHuWaH Elohiym appeared unto them and underneath his feet was a sapphire pavement. This is why the color “blue” symbolizes the Towrah. Wearing the “tziytzit” is meant to remind us to obey the commandments, but it is also meant to be a “witness” to the lost sheep of the House of Yisra’el.

In Zechariah 8:23, we are told that “ten men from the nations” (symbolic of the Ten Northern Tribes of the House of Ephryaim) shall grab ahold of him that is a “Yahuwdiy” (Jew) and they will say “we will go with you for we have heard that Elohiym is with you.” This means that when we wear “tziytzit” we are making ourselves available for those who are lost, and to share with them the importance of obeying our Father’s commandments!

Did you ever notice that a prayer shawl (tallit) is in the shape of a rectangular-shaped harvest field? In Leviticus 19:19, 23:22 & Deuteronomy 24:19, the nation of Yisra’el was commanded not to glean the four corners of their fields but to leave the rest of the crops for the widow, the orphan and the stranger passing through. In Isaiah 54, we read that the nation of Yisra’el became as a “widow.” Her children (like Naomi in the book of Ruth) became as “orphans” (fatherless) because they were exiled to the heathen nations because they lost their identity with the Heavenly Father, and they forgot that they were Yisraelites. They also stopped obeying his Towrah (commandments) and this resulted in the curse of being “unclean” with an “issue of blood.”

This woman who touched our Messiah’s tziytzit, was healed because she was symbolic of the nation of Yisra’el returning to the Towrah:

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment.

And not only was this woman healed when she touched his tziytzit, but many others heard the testimony of this woman and they all began to touch the hem (tziytit) of his garment!

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 14:36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garmentand as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

A Merry Heart is Like Medicine

We are told that a merry heart is like a medicine to the body and the soul and it revives the dry bones of one who has a bitter spirit:

Mishley (Proverbs )17:22 A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones.

But how do we acquire a merry heart? We are commanded to always rejoice, to pray without ceasing and to give thanks in all things:

1st Tasloniqiym (Thessalonians) 5:16-18: Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of Elohiym in Messiah Yahuwshuwa concerning you.

In other words, give thanks even for the bad things that happen to you, knowing that YaHuWaH is using these things in your life to refine you like pure gold and to produce in you the character of Messiah himself.

If we grumble and complain in our circumstances, we are indirectly accusing our Creator of not doing his job and for not caring for us. When we do this, we are taking the role of the “victim” and supposing that he is not a good parent who cares for his children.

Yahuwdah (Jude) 1:16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

People who grumble and complain all the time are likened unto people who walk after their own lusts. They are people who have not learned how to “die daily” to the old selfish nature and take up their “cross” (stauros) to follow Messiah!

Galatiym (Galatians) 5:

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would.

18 But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law (of sin and death).  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;

19 Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Elohiym.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

23 And they that are Messiah’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

You will notice that some of the works of the flesh are wrath, envy, murder and hatred. What is suicide? It is the murder of a human life (yourself). If you are depressed and having suicidal thoughts, then you are contemplating murder! These are all characteristics of people who are depressed. They often-times are holding on to anger for a wrong that has been done to them. They sometimes have self-hatred and they envy what others have and they wish they could be in better circumstances. But what they do not realize is that even if their circumstances were to improve, unless they deal with the root sin of pride, nothing will get better for them. They will continue to be depressed even in their improved set of circumstances. Why? Because an ungrateful heart is never satisfied no matter how much they have.

When someone has an ungrateful heart, they always want more. They usually covet the material possessions of others or they wish that they were married if they are single. Or they may wish they have children if they are childless. Or they may wish they were physically whole if they are handicapped. There is nothing wrong with praying about these things and asking YaHuWaH to give you the desires of your heart. But if you are counting on these things to cure you of your depression, then chances are, you are putting your trust in the gift rather than the giver of the gift. The key is, to be content with your Creator and he will give you the desires of your heart. He wants to teach us to find happiness in him first, and then he does not mind giving us our hearts desire.

Tehilliym (Psalms) 37:4 Delight yourself also in YHWH: and he shall give you all the desires of your heart.

What is Paul’s advice?

Pilippiym (Philippians) 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

1st Timotiyos (Timothy) 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

1st Timotiyos (Timothy) 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

In other words, be content with what you have! Be happy that you are loved by your creator and that he sent the Messiah to die for your sins! Do you have food and clothing? Be content!

And finally what else did the Good Samaritan do for the wounded man? He “paid” for his expenses to be made well and to stay in a hotel. In other words, he “paid” for the man’s shelter, food, and provision! Messiah not only destroyed the effects of sin in our lives but also makes a way for us to be healed, protected, cared for and restored!

Back in my early teenage years in the 1970’s I was suicidal and suffered depression for many years after being abused as a child by Catholic Nuns. But in 1981, I had an encounter with Yahuwshuwa Messiah, and once I was filled with the Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit), he taught me how to keep those demons of depression away. I was baptized in the Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) and fire, and I began to learn how to walk in the Spirit consistently. I learned how to think on those things which are edifying:

Pilippiym (Philippians) 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Train your mind to cast down the thoughts and accusations that come from Satan who is the enemy of your soul:

2nd Qorintiym (Corinthians) 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Elohiym, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Messiah.

Thoughts and words are like seeds, so learn to control your thoughts!

It has been accurately said:

Sow a thought…...reap an attitude
Sow an attitude….reap a habit
Sow a habit…........reap a lifestyle
Sow a lifestyle…....reap a destiny

Meditate on the scriptures (the Torah) day and night:

Tehilliym (Psalms) 1:

1 Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the Towrah (law) of YHWH; and in his Towrah (law) does he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

4 The unrighteous are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the unrighteous shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

5 For YHWH knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

What does it mean to meditate? The Hebrew word in the Concordance is seen here:

#1897 hagah daw-gaw’ a primitive root (Compare 1901); to murmur (in pleasure or anger); by implication, to ponder:--imagine, meditate, mourn, mutter, roar, sore, speak, study, talk, utter.

In other words, we not only read the word of Elohiym, but we study it, ponder it, speak it, hear it, and we live it until it permeates every fiber of our being!

Our heavenly Father has already provided everything we need to walk in joy, love and peace. He has already shown us his instructions about how to overcome sadness, fear and depression.

Romiym (Romans) 8:15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.)

2nd Timotiyos (Timothy) 1:7 For Elohiym has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Our Father has adopted us into his family through Messiah’s Renewed Covenant in his own blood, and so there is no reason for us to believe that we are orphans! We have not received the spirit of bondage (slavery) to sin, depression, drugs and other life-controlling habits.

Using Pharmaceutical Psychotropic drugs is like practicing sorcery because they “trick” your brain , your cells and your DNA by sending false messages (telling lies to brain and nervous system).  The Greek word for “sorcery” is pharmakea(the root word for pharmacy):

Strong’s # G5331 - pharmakeia: the use or the administering of drugspoisoningsorcerymagical artsoften found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it; metaphor of the deceptions and seductions of idolatry.

As you can see, the word for “sorcery” is closely associated with taking drugs!

Dr. David Stewart wrote about this in his book entitled “Healing Oils of the Bible.”

There are natural medicines that are found in the essential oils spoken of in the scriptures.

Yechezqel (Ezekiel) 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

These oils are plant extracts and they contain three main components.

“Sesqueterpenes, Monoterpenes, and Phenols.”

These components do three things:

1.) Phenols clean the receptor sights on your cells that enable better communication between your brain and the rest of your body

2.) They erase false information stored in your DNA by Pharmaceutical drug

3.) They re-write correct information on your DNA and restore the image and character of YHWH to the human body.

Thus Pharmaceutical drugs only relieve symptoms but they never cure the root problem. And while they only temporarily alleviate symptoms, they damage all of your other organs and your DNA.

When Satan came to Chawah (Eve) in the form of a serpent and lied to her in the garden, she believed “the lie” and that is what caused her to disobey and to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

When people believe a lie, they become emotionally distressed and that leads to a chemical reaction in the body. So what is the solution? Is it to add more chemicals to your body? NO! The solution is to stop believing the lies that make you have negative emotions, and thus, the adverse chemicals that are secreted when you have those negative emotions. We must get to the root sin behind the problem (bitterness, resentment, guilt, pride, anger, lust). But drugs only “mask” the problem and perpetuate it with more harmful chemicals.

When I was a child and those nuns abused me, my fallen sinful nature (that I was born with) caused me to hate them. And when I hated them, I brought a “bitter root judgment” upon myself.

In Romans 2:1 we see a principle at work:

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whosoever you are that judges: for wherein you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that judge do the same things.

When we hold a “bitter root judgment“ against another for sinning against us, we come under a curse. And that curse gives the devil an “open door” to bring with him many other demons. Demons of depression, suicidal thoughts, sickness in the body, arthritis, cancer, drug and alcohol abuse etc. In Deuteronomy 28 we are told that we come under a curse when we do not obey the commandments.

Unforgiveness and bitterness brings us under these curses and thereby opens up the doors for Satan to torment us with other demons of fear, rejection, lying spirits (who tell us lies), immorality, inferiority complex, and addictions. These addictions are brought on by an attempt to “fix” the problem with drugs, alcohol, materialism, over-eating etc. But the only cure is to dismantle all of the lies one by one like bricks to a house (each brick representing a lie) until Satan’s House (Kingdom) is destroyed in our minds and in our lives!

Tearing Down the Strongman

Yahuwshuwa illustrated a principle for us regarding deliverance:

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house.

Mark 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

What is the “Strong Man?” It is the ruling demon that controls a person’s thoughts, actions and behaviors. Once that demon has been identified and bound, we can then cast him out and destroy the entire structure of lies that he has built up in the life of the person.

That is why Yahuwshuwa said this:

Yahuwchanon (John) 8:32 “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!”

Satan always begins with one little lie. Once the person accepts that first lie, Satan has gained ground in a person’s life. If that lie is not dismantled, then he builds another lie on top of that one, and then another until he finally builds an entire fortress of lies in the mind creating a “stronghold.”

Once that stronghold is built, he can then change the person’s perception of themselves and others and finally take full control of the person’s behavior.

When I was first born-again by the Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) in 1981, I prayed and repented of all of my sins and I confessed unforgiveness towards those nuns and others who had abused me. And guess what? After that, I ceased to have the recurring nightmares that I had all of my life since childhood. I had no more depression, no more suicidal thoughts, no more eating disorder! Not only that, but my severe acne (which was brought on by nervousness and anxiety) was totally healed!

Only repentance from the root causes of sin and receiving the blood of our Messiah as payment for your sins can break the curse of sin and death! There is no drug that can do that. All drugs can do is put you deeper into financial debt, into a chemical dependency, and do more damage to your mind and body.

We have authority over these demons that try to oppress our minds, so cast out the demons of depression and get off of those drugs!

Luqas (Luke) 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

We have a promise from our Father that if we keep our mind fixed on him that he will keep us in perfect peace:

Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.
