In Genesis 1:4-5, YaHuWaH divided the 12 hours of daylight from the 12 hours of darkness. We can see this as a metaphor of those from the Twelve Tribes of Yisra’el who have not yet come into the light of our Messiah, versus those from the Twelve Tribes who are walking in his light.
Even though YaHuWaH divided these two periods (assigning 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness for a complete 24-hour calendar date), he designated the evening as the first passage of time, and then the morning as the second passage of time, before he called it a complete “day.”
In the Hebrew Masoretic text, here is how the passage reads in Genesis 1:5 reads “And there came to be evening, and there came to be morning, the first day.”
Why did Elohiym begin with evening, rather than morning? When I asked the Father about when a calendar date begins (not the 12 hours of daylight), this is what he said to me: “When does life begin? In a dark womb at conception? Or when the baby is born 9 months later into the light of this world?”
It was that question that caused me to take notice that all of his covenants began in the evening or at sundown.
1.) The Abrahamic Covenant at sundown (Genesis 15:17).
2.) Jacob’s Covenant at sunset (Genesis 28:11).
3.) YaHuWaH’s Passover between two evenings (Exodus 12:6-8).
4.) Yisra’el left Egypt by night (Exodus 12:42-51; Deuteronomy 16:1; Numbers 33:3).
5.) Messiah died on the tree in the evening.
6.) Messiah was buried just before sundown, because the Feast of Unleavened Bread was about to begin. The Torah commands that any man who hangs on a tree must not remain all night long, but must be buried on the same day he was hanged. (Deuteronomy 21:22-23; Joshua 10:26-27; John 19:31).
7.) Messiah resurrected on the 7th day of the week (Shabbat) just before sundown (Matthew 28:1).
8.) Messiah will take his bride at midnight (Matthew 25:6).
The Torah Commands that those who are sentenced to being hanged on a tree should not remain there all night long. They must be taken down from the tree and buried on the same day that they are hanged.
Debariym (Deuteronomy) 21:22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and you hang him on a tree:
Debariym (Deuteronomy) 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of Elohiym;) that your land be not defiled, which YHWH your Elohiym gives you for an inheritance.
Our Messiah died at the 9th hour of the day, which is 3:00 p.m., according to the gospel record. His body had to be buried that same day, which was the 14th day of Abib/Nisan.
This verse in John’s gospel explains that our Messiah’s body was taken down the same day that he was crucified, and they buried him on the preparation day for Passover, which is the 14th day of the 1st month of Abib/Nisan.
This verse is explaining that his body could not remain upon the cross once they High Sabbath of Unleavened Bread arrived. Therefore, he was buried before sundown, because the calendar date changes at sundown. In this case, it was still the 14th of Abib when they buried him in the tomb, but once the sun went down, it became the 15th of Abib.
Yahuwchanon (John) 19:31 The Yahuwdiym (Jews) therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
This verse tells us that they laid his body in the tomb on the the Jew’s preparation day, which is the 14th of Abib:
Yahuwchanon (John) 19:42 There laid they Yahuwshuwa therefore because of the Jew’s preparation day; for the sepulchre was near at hand.
The Apostle Shaul (Paul) recognized that our Messiah was fulfilling this Torah command:
Galatians 3:13 Messiah has has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:
Even though our Messiah never sinned, the sins of the entire world were placed upon his body, and thus, the sinful nature of humanity was put to death on our behalf:
2nd Corinthians 5:21 For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of Elohiym in him.
Colossians 2:11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Messiah:
Are we now beginning to see why YaHuWaH establishes all of his covenants “In the evening?”
*Before RESURRECTION comes DEATH.
*Before HONOR, comes HUMILITY.
*Before RESTORATION comes DESTRUCTION.
1.) A seed germinates in darkness— (in the dark soil) before it begins to shoot forth sprouts.
2.) A baby is formed in darkness (in the womb) before it comes out, and is born into the light of this world.
3.) A butterfly begins as a caterpillar in a dark cocoon.
4.) YaHuWaH started creating the heavens and the earth in darkness, before he said “Let there be light!” (Genesis 1:2-3).
5.) Thus, a new calendar date begins in darkness, before the light of the sun appears 12 hours later!

Another reason why YaHuWaH causes a new calendar date to begin in the evening is found in the very meaning of the word “evening,” which is “ereb.” This word denotes “a mixture” of light and darkness. Therefore, we can see that Yah redeemed a “A mixed multitude” of people out of Egypt!
#6153 `ereb eh'-reb from 6150; dusk:--+ day, even(-ing, tide), night.
#6150 `arab aw-rab' a primitive root (identical with 6148 through the idea of covering with a texture); to grow dusky at sundown:--be darkened, (toward) evening.
Exodus 12:38 tells us that a “Mixed Multitude” went out of Egypt.
And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
Interestingly, the word “mixed” in the above passage is the same word as “evening” (ereb), even though the Hebrew Lexicon assigned it a different reference number. However, the words are spelled the same, only the Masoretes gave this word different vowels:
#6154 `ereb ay'-reb or mereb (1st Kings 10:15), (with the article prefix), {eh'-reb}; from 6148; the web (or transverse threads of cloth); also a mixture, (or mongrel race):--Arabia, mingled people, mixed (multitude), woof.
From the illustration below, you will see that a woof is the same thing as a weft, which is part of a woven fabric.
We can now begin to understand why YaHuWaH allowed there to be a transitional period called “evening,” which consists of “a mixture of light and darkness.”
This is because there are those who have not yet come into the light of Messiah, but they will eventually repent and be converted to him. Therefore, they represent the 12 hours of darkness called “night.” There are also those who are walking in the light of Messiah, and they represent the 12 hours of “daylight.”
There was a MIXED MULTITUDE that went out of Egypt!
The Whole House of Yisra’el & the Sojourning Egyptians made up BOTH HOUSES!
The Hebrew word for “MIXED” (EREB) is the same word for “EVENING” (EREB). Thus, there are TWO EVENINGS FOR TWO HOUSES!
Our English Bible does not accurately translate Exodus 12:6.
“And ye shall keep it UP UNTIL the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Yisra’el shall kill it in the evening.”
This is how it is supposed to read:
Shemoth (Exodus) 12:6 And ye shall keep it UP UNTIL the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Yisra’el shall kill it BETWEEN THE TWO EVENINGS (beyn ha’erebiym).
It becomes apparent that YaHuWaH designed Passover & Unleavened Bread to be BETWEEN TWO EVENINGS, so that our Messiah could EAT the Passover (in obedience to the Torah), and also BECOME THE PASSOVER, all in the SAME DAY!
If our Messiah had not EATEN the Passover, he would have been DISQUALFIED as THE PERFECT, SPOTLESS LAMB!
Below is a link that explains why there were two nights for slaughtering lambs in 1st Century Jerusalem.
Two Passovers?
http://www.cogwriter.com/passover_on_the_fourteenth_or_fifteenth.htm
The gospels appear to say that the Messiah ate a Passover meal with the twelve on the evening beginning Nisan 14, and John appears to say Jews were having their Passover meal one day later. There are different theories to explain this.

The gospels appear to say that the Messiah ate a Passover meal with the twelve on the evening beginning Nisan 14, and John appears to say Jews were having their Passover meal one day later. There are different theories to explain this.
The Sadducees and Pharisees disagreed on the day of Passover. The Sadducees (the more conservative group) believed the Feasts of Passover and Unleavened Bread were separate feast days. They held Passover on the fourteenth as Elohiym decreed in Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.
Those of the majority opinion, including the Pharisees, held Passover on the fifteenth…Thousands of people would come to Jerusalem to have their lambs ritually slain in the Temple. If they only had one day in which to prepare for the Passover, it would have been extremely difficult to have slaughtered all the lambs brought in to be sacrificed.
Therefore, they worked on two different time scales. The northern part of the country went with the old way of dating (starting from morning and going to the following morning). The southern part of the country followed the official dating method (from evening to evening).
Thus, there were two times when lambs were being killed in the Temple for sacrifice----Sampson R & Pierce L. A Family Guide to the Biblical Holidays. Heart of Wisdom Publishing June 2001, p. 112.
As you can see from the above historical account, the lambs were slaughtered the evening before our Messiah was sacrificed on the tree, and they were slaughtered again the following evening! There were two evenings for slaughtering lambs!
All Yisra’el began to “unleaven” their homes on the 14th of Abib called “The day of preparation.” Therefore, anytime within those 24 hours (beginning at the first sunset when the date changed from the 13th to the 14th of Abib) until the following night just before the date changed at sunset to the 15th of Abib, Yisra’el was able to kill the Passover any time during those 24 hours.
So long as the lambs were slaughtered “at evening” or “between the two evenings,” they were still within the parameters of obeying the Torah.
So long as the lambs were slaughtered “at evening” or “between the two evenings,” they were still within the parameters of obeying the Torah.
The Yahuwdiym (Jews) Consolidated Passover & Unleavened Bread into One Feast
While Elohiym intended the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread to be separate (though adjacent) observances, the Yahuwdiym (Jews) ended up combining the two during the Babylonian exile, as the Encyclopedia Judaica confirms:
“The feast of Passover consists of two parts: The Passover ceremony and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Originally, both parts existed separately; but at the beginning of the [Babylonian] exile they were combined” (vol. 13, p. 169).
This careless and unscriptural merging of festivals resulted in the Jews observing Passover late on Abib 14, just hours before the Feast of Unleavened Bread began. Thus, a third variation of Passover observance was added to the mix.”
However, within that mixture, (in that transitional period), there is a conversion taking place, where those who turn their back on the light of Messiah, become completely dark (symbolic of the night).
But by the morning, we see a prophetic picture of those who repent, and turn back to the light of Messiah. When reading the entire chapter of Job 38, it is clear, that YaHuWaH is addressing Job, in verse 12, and asking him if he has “Commanded the morning, and caused the dawn to know his place.”
He continues in verse 13-14, explaining that each new daylight provides an opportunity for the inhabitants of the earth to “TURN” back to Messiah, who is “THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!” (John 8:12; 9:5).
Yowb (Job) 38:12 Have you commanded the morning since your days; and caused the dayspring (dawn) to know his place;
Yowb (Job) 38:13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
Yowb (Job) 38:14 It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
The Hebrew word for “TURNED” in the above verse is #H2015, which means: TO RETURN, TO CHANGE, BE CONVERTED!
In other words, the inhabitants of the earth are given a chance at each new daylight to REPENT!
In Job 37:12, we are told that the earth TURNS every day by Yah’s counsels on the face of the globe. This action of the earth “turning” is meant to show us that with each new sunrise, the inhabitants of the earth are given a chance to repent.
Yowb (Job) 37:12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commands them upon the face of the world (tebel, globe) in the earth.
Our Messiah is a prophetic picture of “THE SUN,” as he is called “THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS” in Malachi 4:2. Each new daylight brings the dawn, which takes hold of the ends of the earth, by lighting up the entire half of the globe.
This is the method by which YaHuWaH causes the WICKED to be “SHAKEN,” like ripened fruit that falls from a tree to the ground.
These ancient clay seals are shaped like cylinders, like cardboard toilet paper rolls These are rolled over a piece of clay, and forms images or shapes. This is what is meant in Job 38:14, when it says “THEY STAND OUT AS A GARMENT.”
To learn more, see my blog: What is the Meaning of Job 38:14?
The Hebrew word for “GARMENT,” means the following:
#3830 lbuwsh leb-oosh' or lbush {leb-oosh'}; from 3847; a garment (literally or figuratively); by implication (euphemism for a wife):--apparel, clothed with, clothing, garment, raiment, vestment, vesture.
#3847 labash law-bash' or labesh {law-bashe'}; a primitive root; properly, wrap around, i.e. (by implication) to put on a garment or clothe (oneself, or another), literally or figuratively:--(in) apparel, arm, array (self), clothe (self), come upon, put (on, upon), wear.
As you can see from the above definition, the earth turns daily, causing the inhabitants of the earth to turn back to the light of the world, which is the sun (symbolic of Messiah).
As the earth turns, the light of the sun rolls over it, just like these clay seals roll over clay, causing the images to stand out and become visible.
The word “garment,” is also a euphemism for “a wife,” because YaHuWaH is daily converting souls back to him, and making them his bride! And when these souls become his bride, he clothes them with a WHITE WEDDING GARMENT!
A calendar date (yowm, day), is 24-hours long, and it runs its course from evening to evening.
*Explanation: The Hebrew word for “day” (yowm) is #H3117 in the Hebrew Concordance, and it can mean the 12-hour period of daylight, as well as the 24-hour calendar date, which includes both day and night.
Genesis 1:5 is often misunderstood to mean that from sunset to sunrise (evening to morning) was only a 12-hour “day” during the dark hours. However, the true meaning of Genesis 1:5 is that from evening (sundown), until the next morning (sunrise, boqer), and into the remaining daylight hours, is one complete 24-hour period.
Therefore, the phrase “And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the first day,” is describing a 24-hour period that runs its course from evening to evening.
In John 11:9, our Messiah was speaking of 12-hours of daylight, not a 12-hour calendar date. It is already understood that a calendar date is 24 hours long, and it includes 12 hours of light + 12 hours of darkness.
Yahuwchanon (John) 11:9 Yahuwshuwa answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world.
The Hebrew word for “morning” in Genesis 1:5 is “boqer,” which means more than just “dawn,” or “sunrise.” It also means “morrow, or the next day.”
The Hebrew word “morrow” is #H1239 (machar), and it is defined as follows: “Tomorrow; indefinitely, hereafter.” This means that boqer (morning) includes the period from sunrise, extending into the remaining daylight hours.
Therefore, the phrase “And there came to be evening, and there came to be morning, the first day,” (Genesis 1:5) is properly understood to mean that a 24-hour calendar date begins at evening (sundown), and concludes the following evening, 24 hours later.
The Hebrew root word for “morning” (boqer) comes from another root word (baqar), which means “To break forth, and to plow.” In other words, once the dawn breaks forth, the remaining daylight hours are still part of the “boqer,” (the morrow), as the day continues to “plow,” (move along), continuing its light, until it ceases that evening.
There are many who are conflating a “CALENDAR DATE” with the “DAYLIGHT.” In Scripture, the Hebrew word “yowm” (day) is used to describe both of these periods:
*The 24-hour Calendar Date.
*The 12-hours of Daylight.
There are 12 Tribes of Yisra’el who are “Walking in the light of Messiah.”
There are 12 Tribes of Yisra’el who are “Not yet walking in the light of Messiah.”
Hence, the reason why there are 12 hours of daylight, and 12 hours of night.
The 24-hour Calendar Date and corresponding Time Zones symbolize the 24 Elders in heaven (Revelation 4:4-10; 5:8-14; 11:16; 19:4).
See my other blog for more understanding:
YaHuWaH is still trying to reach those who are “sealed,” but have not yet come to believe in him as the Messiah!
It is no coincidence that the word “Evening” (ereb) means “mixture,” and this is why our Messiah likened the Kingdom of Heaven to LEAVEN BEING HIDDEN/CONCEALED INTO THREE MEASURES OF MEAL, UNTIL THE WHOLE WAS LEAVENED (Matthew 13:33).
All during the 1,000-year reign of Messiah, both Houses of Yisra’el (those in resurrected bodies, and those in natural bodies) will be learning the Torah.
The elimination of “NIGHT” will not occur until “THE ONE THOUSAND YEARS” are finished!
In the 8th Millennium, we will see the COMPLETED RESTORATION OF BOTH HOUSES!
Chazown (Revelation) 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for Yahuwah Almighty, and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Chazown (Revelation) 21:23 And the city had NO NEED OF THE SUN, NEITHER OF THE MOON, to shine in it: for the glory of Elohiym did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Chazown (Revelation) 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall WALK IN THE LIGHT OF IT: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
Chazown (Revelation) 21:25 And the gates of it SHALL NOT BE SHUT AT ALL BY DAY: FOR THERE SHALL BE NO NIGHT THERE.
Until the 8th Millennium, there will continue to be DAY & NIGHT, EVENING & MORNING!
Division Between Two Houses & Two Kingdoms
Some people struggle to understand, why YaHuWaH designed Passover to be conducted “between two evenings” on the 14th of Abib. To understand the reason, we must go back to the book of Genesis, where all the division began.
There was a “breach” (a gap, or a division) between two sisters who were made rivals over one husband. It was Rachel & Leah who were made rivals when their father (Laban) tricked Jacob into marrying his first-born daughter (Leah). This is where the breach or the gap in the house began. In Genesis 38, Tamar gave birth to twins by her father-in-law (Judah). The names of these twins tells the story of two divided kingdoms that would become rivals in the future.
Bereshiyth (Genesis) 38:29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How have you broken forth? this breach be upon you: therefore his name was called Pharez (Perets).
Bereshiyth (Genesis) 38:30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah (Zarach).
The first twin named “Perets,” his name means “breach,” because he represents the Kingdom of Judah who would later in history cause there to be a breach or a gap in the house. In 1st Kings chapter 12, it was King Solomon (from the Tribe of Judah) who caused the two kingdoms to become divided. The Ten Tribes from the Northern Kingdom left the House of David, and were ruled by King Jeroboam. The Two Tribes (Benjamin & Judah) from the Southern Kingdom remained and were ruled by King Rehoboam.
But the other twin was named “Zarach,” and his name means “Rising of light!” Zarach was also from the Tribe of Judah, but he represents our Messiah whose nailed hands represent the scarlet thread! It was Yahuwshuwa who would “Rise from the dead,” bringing light into the world!
Two Evenings for the Clean & the Unclean
Since there was a “MIXED MULTITUDE” who were redeemed out of Egypt (both native born, and sojourning strangers), the two evenings represent the mixing of clean with the unclean.
This reminds us of the days of Noah, as Noah was instructed to bring into the ark seven pair of clean animals, and one pair of unclean animals. Both the clean, and the unclean entered the ark through one door. That one door symbolizes Yahuwshuwa who is called “The door” (John 10:7-9). It is important to remember that Messiah came to call sinners to repentance:
Luke 5:31 And Yahuwshuwa answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
The Apostle Keefa (Peter) was also shown in a vision, a large sheet (a prayer shawl) with clean and unclean animals in it. He then saw the giant sheet gathered at the four corners, (where the tzit-tzit or fringes are attached), and then the sheet was taken up to heaven. Once again, we are shown that YaHuWaH is allowing the clean and the unclean to be gathered into one place, through the door, which is Messiah.
In 1st Thessalonians 5:2-8, Shaul (Paul) tells us that we are to walk in the “light” of the prophetic feasts. Each festival is represented by a “light” on the seven-branched menorah. If we are called “Children of the light,” why does YaHuWaH establish his covenants in the evening?
When I asked YaHuWaH about this, he revealed to me that the world in which we live is filled with spiritual darkness, but he wants his children to display his light to this dark world by keeping his festivals:
Yahuwchanon (John) 8:12 Then spoke Yahuwshuwa again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Yahuwchanon (John) 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness.
The division of a 24-hour calendar date (into two periods of 12 hours), is meant to remind us that there are Twelve Tribes of Yisra’el, who are his covenant people. However, some of these people from the Twelve Tribes are still in darkness, and have not come into the light of Messiah yet.
Those from among the Twelve Tribes who are “walking in the light” are meant to let their light shine in a dark world:
Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
There will come a day in the 8th Millennium, when the New Heaven and the New Earth will take over the existing heaven and earth. And when this happens, there will be no more darkness:
All during the 7th Millennium, we will be keeping the Feasts according to the New Moons:
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah)66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says YHWH, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, says YHWH.
The Sabbath Millennium is a Macrocosm of the Weekly Sabbath
Act 20:6 And we sailed away from Philippi AFTER THE DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode SEVEN DAYS.
Act 20:7 And upon the first [day] of the weeks, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech UNTIL MIDNIGHT.
*Explanation: In Acts 20:6, the disciples had just finished celebrating the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This was now “The first of the weeks” (plural). But it was also the beginning of a new week.
The Hebrews of the 1st Century Jerusalem referred to this as “Havdalah,” which means “Exiting the Sabbath.” This is when they traditionally would break bread. After seven days of the Feast of Unleavened bread, they were now eating leavened bread again.
*Note: The word “day” in Acts 20:7 is italicized in the King James Version, so it was not there. In Greek it says “Mia ton Sabbaton,” which means “The First of the Sabbaths” (plural).
This was what we would today call “Saturday evening,” which is the beginning of the week, as well as the beginning of counting seven weeks (sabbaths), leading up to Shabuoth (Pentecost).
Act 20:8 And there were MANY LIGHTS in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
*Explanation: Acts 20:7 says it was the first of the weeks (plural), as well as the beginning of the week , and there were many lights in the upper chamber. Paul continued preaching until midnight. This means it was at night, and it was the beginning of the week/weeks!
Act 20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
Act 20:10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
Act 20:11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, EVEN TILL THE BREAK OF DAY, so he departed.
*Explanation: Eutychus fell from a third floor window and died! Paul fell on him and revived him from death. Eutychus went back up to the third floor, and broke bread with the others until the break of day, aka the morning!
Now that we have established that the disciples began counting the seven weeks (seven sabbaton) in the evening, we can now get a better picture of Messiah’s Sabbath Resurrection.
His Sabbath Resurrection, took place at the END of the SEVENTH DAY (at sundown). It is his Sabbath Resurrection that gives us a pattern for how the elect will ENTER INTO REST for a thousand years.
In John 6:40-54 Yahuwshuwa said THREE TIMES:
“Whoever believes in ME, I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY!”
The LAST DAY OF THE WEEK, is a microcosm to the macrocosm of the SEVENTH, & LAST MILLENIUM before the 8th millennium takes us into eternity.
2nd Peter 3:8 tells us that “One day is with Yahuwah as a thousand years.”
The SABBATH RESURRECTION was the most pivotal event in history.
The SABBATH RESURRECTION also parallels the walls of Jericho coming down on the SEVENTH DAY!
In Joshua 1:13 Elohiym gave Yisra’el REST, when they ENTERED THE PROMISED LAND on the SEVENTH DAY.
The SEVENTH DAY is therefore LIMITED as a day for ENTERING INTO REST!
YaHuWaH entered into REST on the SEVENTH DAY (Genesis 2:2-3).
The Ark RESTED in the SEVENTH month (Genesis 8:4).
YaHuWaH reversed the months of the year in Exodus 12:2 & 13:4, therefore, the 7th month became the 1st month after the Exodus. The ark resting on what was THEN the 7th month, became the 1st month of Abib in the spring at the time of the Exodus.
The Ark Resting on the 17th day of the 7th month therefore, correlates to Messiah’s Sabbath Resurrection on the 17th of Abib!
In Exodus 16:30 the people RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:4 For he spoke in a certain place of THE SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And Elohiym did REST THE SEVENTH DAY from all his works.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:5 And in this place again, If THEY SHALL ENTER INTO MY REST.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:6 Seeing therefore it remains that some MUST ENTER therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:7 Again, HE LIMITS A CERTAIN DAY, saying in David, Today, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:8 For if Yahushuwa HAD GIVEN THEM REST, then WOULD HE NOT AFTERWARD HAVE SPOKEN OF ANOTHER DAY?
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:9 THERE REMAINS therefore A REST to the people of Elohiym.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:10 For he that is ENTERED INTO HIS REST, he also HAS CEASED FROM HIS OWN WORKS, as Elohiym did from his.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:11 Let us LABOUR therefore TO ENTER INTO THAT REST, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Messiah’s Sabbath Resurrection on the SEVENTH DAY is what causes us to ENTER INTO REST!
In John 6:40-54 Yahuwshuwa said THREE TIMES:
“Whoever believes in ME, I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY!”
The Hebrew word for “seven” is “sheba,” which means “To complete, to take an oath by repeating seven times.”
The SABBATH RESURRECTION was the most pivotal event in history!
The Sabbath Resurrection also parallels the walls of Jericho coming down on the SEVENTH DAY!
In Joshua 1:13 Elohiym gave Yisra’el REST, when they ENTERED THE PROMISED LAND on the SEVENTH DAY.
The SEVENTH DAY HAS BEEN LIMITED FOR ENTERING INTO REST!
The Ark Resting on the 17th day of the 7th month therefore, correlates to Messiah's Sabbath Resurrection on the 17th of Abib!
In Exodus 16:30 the people RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY.
Abriym (Hebrews) 4:
4:4 For he spoke in a certain place of THE SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And Elohiym did REST THE SEVENTH DAY from all his works.
4:5 And in this place again, If THEY SHALL ENTER INTO MY REST.
4:6 Seeing therefore it remains that some MUST ENTER therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
4:7 Again, HE LIMITS A CERTAIN DAY, saying in David, Today, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
4:8 For if Yahuwshuwa HAD GIVEN THEM REST, then WOULD HE NOT AFTERWARD OF SPOKEN OF ANOTHER DAY?
4:9 THERE REMAINS therefore A REST to the people of Elohiym.
4:10 For he that is ENTERED INTO HIS REST, he also HAS CEASED FROM HIS OWN WORKS, as Elohiym did from his.
4:11 Let us LABOUR therefore TO ENTER INTO THAT REST, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Therefore, we can clearly see the prophetic pattern of the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK, as a microcosm to the SEVENTH MILLENNIUM, in which there will be A MIXTURE OF LIGHT & DARKNESS, leading up to the 8th Millennium, when there will be NO DARKNESS AT ALL:
Isaiah 66:23 is describing the Seventh Sabbath Millennium, wherein there will still be darkness and New Moons:
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says YHWH, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, says YHWH.
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
Our Messiah did not resurrect on Sunday morning. He rose again just before the end of the 7th day Sabbath!
Why did Yahuwshuwa declare in Mark 2:27 that “The Sabbath is made for man, and not man for the Sabbath?”
It is because the number “seven” (sheba) means “To take an oath, by sprinkling blood seven times!”
The number SEVEN is all about COVENANT & SALVATION!
Since Messiah commands us to “Save life on the Sabbath,” (Mark 3:4; Luke 6:9) it was prophetically necessary for his resurrection to take place on the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK!
On the previous Sabbath, he rode through Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt on the Weekly Shabbat as the High Priest, Malkiy-Tzedeq (Melchizedek)! See my other blog entitled:
Exodus 12:3 commands us to bring the Passover Lamb into our homes on the 10th day of Abib, and to love it and adore it, before we have to kill it on the 14th of Abib.
This is exactly what happened to our Messiah, when they loved him and adored him by waving Palm Branches, and then shouting “Crucify him” only four days later!
This took place, not on “Palm Sunday,” but on “Palm Shabbat!”
This is because he was “SAVING LIFE ON THE SABBATH!” We are commanded to redeem the firstling of a donkey for Passover (Exodus 13:13), and since Yahuwshuwa was displaying himself as “The Lamb who would redeem the donkey,” (symbolic of Yisra’el), it is therefore prophetically fitting that the people were shouting “Hosheana” which means “SAVE US!”
By his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, he was displaying himself as the High Priest who annually rode into Jerusalem to select the Lamb that would be killed that year for Passover. In this case, he was selecting himself, which is why he made this statement:
Yahuwchanon (John) 10:18 No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Seven days later, he resurrected on the Sabbath, thus “Saving life on the Sabbath!”
Ephesians 4:8-9 says that Yahuwshuwa “Went into the lowest parts of the earth...and GAVE GIFTS UNTO MEN!”
This means that he was acting as the High Priest, who would “WAVE THE FIRST-FRUITS OF BARLEY” before YaHuWaH in the Temple, but his “FIRST-FRUITS” where those righteous souls in Abraham’s Bosom (Paradise).
In 1st Century Jerusalem, the Sadducees controlled the Temple, and the “Wave Sheaf Offering” was presented in the Temple at the close of the Sabbath!
This means that while our Messiah resurrected, and went into Abraham’s Bosom to redeem those souls, the High Priest in the Temple was simultaneously “WAVING THE BARLEY IN THE TEMPLE” just before sundown on the Sabbath!
See my other blog entitled: Three Days & Three Nights in the Heart of the Earth: The Good Friday Myth:
Yahuwshuwa was also fulfilling the pattern of the “Red Heifer” (Numbers 19), whose ashes were to be buried in “a clean place” (the new tomb of Joseph of Arimathea), and thus he cleansed and “SAVED” his people “ON THE SEVENTH DAY,” according to the ordinance in Numbers 19:12.
See my other blog entitled: The Red Heifer Ordinance Fulfilled in Messiah:
Those that shouted, “Crucify him!” became guilty of innocent blood, which is what the ashes of the Red Heifer are to be used for.
Those that took his body down from the cross, became “unclean,” and therefore, Numbers 19:12 requires that they “PURIFY THEMSELVES ON THE THIRD DAY, AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY, THEY SHALL BE CLEAN!”
This means that those who went to the tomb on Shabbat ON THE SEVENTH DAY, WERE MADE CLEAN, because it was also the THIRD DAY FROM HIS SACRIFICE!
As for when the High Priests were to offer the Wave Sheaf Offering, it is historically proven that it was offered at the close of the Sabbath at sundown.
Though Scripture specifies the day the wave-sheaf was to be cut, it gives no specific time of day to cut it. Jewish history from the Second Temple period gives an interesting insight.
The second-century Mishnah affirms that, when the Sadducees controlled the Temple, the sickle was put to the grain just as the sun was going down on the weekly Sabbath (Menahot 10:1-4, Jacob Neusner translation, pp. 753-754).
The book, Biblical Calendars, states, “The Boethusians [Temple priests] reaped [the firstfruits sheaf] at the going out of the Sabbath” (p. 218. Additional information can be found in the section titled “Temple Service,” p. 280, as well as in The Temple: Its Ministry and Services by Alfred Edersheim, 1994, pp. 203-205).
The New Testament’s silence on this Sadducean practice—along with its agreement with the ritual’s fulfillment in Messiah—must be construed as acceptance of its validity.
The priests began to make the first cutting right at the end of the Sabbath, continuing over into the first day of the week, when the bulk of the work would be done.
The ritual, however, was not complete until the sheaf was offered (waved) before Elohiym the following morning, or more precisely, between 9:00 a.m. and noon.
Some might object to the reaping of the sheaf in the closing minutes of the Sabbath because it is a day of rest when no work is to be done. After one understands the full reason for it, as well as Yahuwshuwa’s direct statement that a priest is blameless in the performance of his required duties (Matthew 12:5), any objections to the practice disappear.
The Conclusion
Yahuwshuwa ha’Mashiyach resurrected before sundown on the Sabbath. Afterward, he went to the lower parts of the earth, and then presented those souls before the heavenly Father as his “first-fruits offering.”
However, it was not the barley that he waved. Instead, Yahuwshuwa waved before YaHuWaH, the souls of men as his first-fruits offering!
His resurrection on the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK, points us to the Sabbath Millennium, when he will also resurrect his bride in the final wheat harvest “AT THE LAST DAY,” at the Sabbath Millennium!
See my other blog: The Sabbath Resurrection: “I Will Raise Him Up at the Last Day”
Bamidbar (Numbers) 19:8 And he that burns her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and SHALL BE UNCLEAN UNTIL EVENING.
Bamidbar (Numbers)19:9 And A MAN THAT IS CLEAN SHALL GATHER UP THE ASHES OF THE HEIFER, and LAY THEM UP WITHOUT THE CAMP IN A CLEAN PLACE, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Yisrael for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.
Bamidbar (Numbers) 19:10 And HE THAT GATHERED THE ASHES OF THE HEIFER shall wash his clothes, and BE UNCLEAN UNTIL THE EVENING: and it shall be unto the children of Yisrael, and unto the stranger that sojourns among them, for a statute for ever.
This directly correlates to Messiah's Sabbath Resurrection AT THE CLOSE OF THE SHABBAT AT EVENING BEFORE SUNDOWN:
Bamidbar (Numbers) 19:18 And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:
Bamidbar (Numbers) 19:19 And the clean person shall SPRINKLE UPON THE UNCLEAN ON THE THIRD DAY, and ON THE SEVENTH DAY: and ON THE SEVENTH DAY HE SHALL PURIFY HIMSELF, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and SHALL BE CLEAN AT EVENING.
The fact that our Messiah’s resurrection occurred before the “first” calendar date of the week, (and it was not yet dark), means that he resurrected just before sundown on Saturday evening.
The women were unable to go to his tomb until after his body was gone from the grave, because the Roman Soldiers were ordered to stand guard until the end of their three-day watch. These women could’ve been arrested had they gone to the tomb sooner.
By the time the women arrived, the stone had already been rolled away earlier that day and the angel was there waiting to give them the good news!
Messiah resurrected before the end of Weekly Sabbath while it was still daylight! HalleluYah!
He is Master (Lord) of the Sabbath!
The Conclusion: No More Excuse to call Sunday a Holy Day!
Yahuwshuwa is Master (Lord) of the Sabbath Day!
Why did Yahuwshuwa declare in Mark 2:27 that “The Sabbath is made for man, and not man for the Sabbath?”

The events that occurred on that first night of Passover, and continuing into the following evening (when Yisra’el left Egypt) parallel exactly to our Messiah’s Passover fulfillment. What follows is an illustration of the parallels that can be observed between the first Passover in Egypt and the Gospel Passover of our Messiah.
The first thing that must be understood, is that there were two evenings for slaughtering lambs in 1st Century Jerusalem. Why?
For historical evidence for Passover & Unleavened Bread on two separate nights, see these two links:
In Exodus 12:6, we are told to slaughter the lamb “In the evening,” which is how the English translation is rendered. However, the original Hebrew says to kill the lamb “Between the two evenings,” meaning in between the two sunsets of the 14th & 15th of Abib.
The Abrahamic Covenant was sealed by passing “Between two animal pieces.” See my other blogs for a deeper understanding:
Our Messiah “confirmed” the Abrahamic Covenant as described in Daniel 9:26-27 “In the midst of the week,” or in other words, the middle of the last seven years of the 490-year prophecy.
Additionally, the Passover is to be killed “Between the two evenings” on the 14th of Abib, or in other words, between the two sunsets of 13th & 15th of Abib (Exodus 12:6).
Our Messiah also died “Between two thieves,” because each of them represented the divided Two Houses of Yisra’el (Isaiah 8:14; Ezekiel 37:15-21; John 10:16; Matthew 27:38; Mark 15:27).
Our Messiah confirming the Abrahamic Covenant “In the midst of the week,” (what we today call Wednesday), and also “In the middle of the last seven years,” of Daniel’s 70-Week prophecy, is illustrated by these other witnesses in Scripture. For it was only our Messiah who could confirm the covenant by dying “Between two thieves,” and also “Between two evenings!”
The prophets told us that there was none found who could “Stand in the gap” and “Repair the Breach.” Yet, the only one who is found worthy is our Messiah Yahuwshuwa, to “Open the book and loose the seals” (Revelation 5:2-9).
Our Messiah “stood in the gap” between the two divided houses of Yisra’el:
Yehezqel (Ezekiel) 13:5 You have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Yisrael to stand in the battle in the day of YHWH.
Yehezqel (Ezekiel) 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
There has been a “gap” between the Two Houses of Yisrael, but only our Messiah, Yahuwshuwa was able to repair the “breach,” or the gap in the house:
Tehilliym (Psalm) 60:2 You have made the earth to tremble; you have broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shakes.
Tehilliym (Psalm) 106:23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 30:26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that YHWH binds up the breach of his people, and heals the stroke of their wound.
Yeshayahuw (Isaiah)Isaiah 58:12 And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
Yirmeyahuw (Jeremiah) 14:17 Therefore you shall say this word unto them; Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
Amowc (Amos) 9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old.
