Why would our Messiah make a point of telling us that the prophet Eliyahuw’s ministry lasted for 3.5 years--HALF OF SEVEN YEARS, right after he read HALF OF ISAIAH 61:2?
Michael Rood Teaches that Messiah Had a 70-Week Ministry
I will try and make this brief, and straight to the point. I honestly love Michael Rood, as I began listening to many of his teachings in 2006. Back then, I was surprised that many of the revelations he presented had also been shown to me in 2002 (following the events of September 11th 2001). However, even though I highly respect Mr. Rood, he is wrong about our Messiah having a ministry that lasted for “seventy weeks.”
The Laws and history of the Red Heifer Talmud (in dedicated Tractate Parshah Parah) says a red heifer is valid only if:
At this point in time, on August 4, 2023
During a season of fasting and prayer in 2004, many things came to light for me, as I had been asking the Father to show me who the “he” is in Daniel 9:27.
For hundreds of years, many theologians Bible scholars have been using Daniel 9:27 to invent a seven-year tribulation period in the end of days, but there are no corroborating verses in the whole of Scripture to support this.
Additionally, many people arrive at the false conclusion that the word “he” in Daniel 9:27 is speaking about an “Anti-Messiah” (Antichrist) leader in the future who supposedly “Confirms a covenant with many, for one week.”
The Hebrew word for “week” is “shabuwa,” which is a “heptad,” which can mean a period of seven days, seven weeks, or seven years, etc. In other words, any period that is divisible by the number seven. I will show you in this study, that our Messiah fulfilled the first half of “Daniel’s 70th Week” in three different ways.
To understand Daniel’s 70th Week, we must look at the entire prophecy in context. I want to start with the previous two verses (Daniel 9:25-26), where we see two different characters represented: “The Messiah the prince,” and “The people of the prince.”
Many people assume that the “prince” (in lower cases letters) is the same one in Daniel 9:27 who confirms the covenant for one week. They ignore the proper grammar rule, that assigns the pronoun “he” to an individual, while the word “they” would be the pronoun used for “The people of the prince.”
Even though capitalization is a construct of the English language, (and there is no such thing as capital letters in Hebrew), I find it interesting that the King James translators capitalized the word “Prince,” when the prophecy seems to be speaking of the future Messiah, hence “The Messiah, the Prince.”
When it is speaking of the Roman Army of General Titus, the phrase “The People of the prince,” does not capitalize the word “prince.” It’s obvious to me, that the English translators understood that these were two different subjects being described.
Therefore, we must ask ourselves (when reading Daniel 9:27), who is the “he” in this verse? To understand who it is, we must look at the previous two verses:
Daniy’El (Daniel) 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
*Explanation: The first thing I want to reveal, is the meaning to the word “prince” in this passage.
#H5057 nagiyd naw-gheed' or nagid {naw-gheed'}; from 5046; a commander (as occupying the front), civil, military or religious; generally (abstractly, plural), honorable themes:--captain, chief, excellent thing, (chief) governor, leader, noble, prince, (chief) ruler.
The root word gives us even more revelation:
#H5046 nagad naw-gad' a primitive root; properly, to front, i.e. stand boldly out opposite; by implication (causatively), to manifest; figuratively, to announce (always by word of mouth to one present); specifically, to expose, predict, explain, praise:--bewray, X certainly, certify, declare(-ing), denounce, expound, X fully, messenger, plainly, profess, rehearse, report, shew (forth), speak, X surely, tell, utter.
Did you catch that? The word “prince” comes from a root word that means “To reveal, to manifest, to announce, to declare!”
And when was our Messiah “revealed, announced, or declared” as “The Anointed One, the Mashiyach?”
It was at his mikvah (baptism), that he was first recognized as the Messiah:
Yahuwchanon (John) 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Ruwach (Spirit) descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Ruwach haQodesh (Holy Spirit).
Yahuwchanon (John) 1:29 The next day Yahuwchanon (John) saw Yahuwshuwa coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of Elohiym, which takes away the sin of the world.
Yahuwchanon (John) 1:41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means, the Anointed One).
It was when Yahuwchanon (John), baptized him, (just before he officially began his ministry), as he was not quite 30 years of age yet (Luke 3:23). He had to be exactly 30 years old, before he could be installed as the heavenly High Priest, Melchizedek, (see Numbers chapter 4).
After his 40-day fast in the wilderness, he announced publicly, (in Luke 4:16-19), that he was the Mashiyach, “The Anointed One,” and that he had come “To proclaim the Acceptable Year of YaHuWaH.”
For a more in-depth explanation, please see my other blog: Messiah’s Forty-Day Fast Leading Up to Yom Kippur!
Something that is important to understand, is that the Sons of Aharown (Aaron) were the only ones allowed to announce the “The Acceptable Year,” according to Numbers 10:2. What does this phrase mean?
It is a phrase that is used on Yom Kippur to signify that the nation was accepted for the next coming year, and that their sins were forgiven. Every fiftieth Yom Kippur, it was called “A Year of Jubilee,” where debts were forgiven, and those who had lost the land of their inheritance could buy it back from the one who it was sold to.
For our Messiah to be announcing this, as one who is from the Tribe of Yahwudah (Judah), he was making an astonishing declaration, that would certainly send shockwaves throughout the region. You see, our Messiah was not from the Tribe of Levi, and therefore, he was not considered eligible to be an earthly priest.
Ibriym (Hebrews) 7:14 For it is evident that our YHWH sprang out of Yahuwdah (Judah); of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
To learn more about why our Messiah had to be born into the Tribe of Yahuwdah (Judah), see my blog entitled: The Father & the Son Seen in Judah the Kinsman Redeemer
Daniel’s 70-Week prophecy is the culmination of 70 x 7 years, totaling 490 years. The timeline for this prophecy begins with King Cyrus, who issued the decree, in 457 B.C., enabling the Kingdom of Judah to return to Jerusalem, following the Babylonian Captivity. The purpose of these 490 years would be to accomplish six items from Daniel 9:24:
1.) To finish the transgression.
*Explanation: The Hebrew word for “transgression” is “pesha,” which means “The rebellion, or the revolt.” I believe this is specifically referring to the 42 months of the beast speaking blasphemies against the Most High (Revelation 13:5), and the Temple being defiled with the Abomination of Desolation (Daniel 12:11), which will continue until our Messiah returns with his army to defeat the beast.
2.) To make an end of sins.
*Explanation: The phrase “end” in Hebrew is “chatham,” which means “to close up, to seal.” The word “sins” is “chattah,” which means “habitual sinfulness, punishment, the offender.” When we read these two words together, it means “To seal up the offender.”
This is clearly describing Satan being locked up in the bottomless pit for a thousand years. To those who teach that the final seven years of this 490-year prophecy are in the past with the stoning of Stephen, the Hebrew meaning of these words prove this is not the case.
Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
3.) To make reconciliation for iniquity.
*Explanation: The Hebrew word for “reconciliation” is “kaphar,” which is the root word for “kippur,” as in “Yom Kippur.” Kaphar means “to cover, to cancel, to cleanse, to appease, to forgive, to pardon, to make atonement.” This is obviously describing the sacrifice of our Messiah when he died for the sins of the world.
4.) To bring in everlasting righteous.
*Explanation: The Hebrew word for “everlasting,” is “owlam,” which means “vanishing point, eternity.” This begins with the 1,000-year reign of Messiah on earth, and it continues with the New Heaven & Earth descending in the 8th Millennium.
5.) To seal up the vision and prophecy.
*Explanation: The Hebrew word for “seal” is once again, “chatham,” which means “to close up, to seal.” The word “vision” is “chazon,” which means “revelation.” What this tells us, is that Daniel’s vision and prophecy will be fulfilled (sealed up or finished), when all the events described in Revelation 21-22 are completed.
Revelation 22:10 And he said unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
The Greek word for “seal” in the above passage, is “sphragizo,” which means “to mark private, to keep secret.” This means that when the New Heaven & Earth descend in the 8th Millennium, all the prophecies in the book of Revelation will be fulfilled, and nothing will be a secret, for it will be unfolded and revealed.
6.) To anoint the “Most Holy.”
The phrase “most holy” or “most holy place” refers to the holiest place in the Temple, where the Ark of the Covenant resides (behind the veil), and the presence of YaHuWaH meets with the High Priest once per year on Yom Kippur.
In this prophecy, the word “anoint” is “mashach” (from where we derive the word Mashiyach or Messiah). This word means “to smear or rub with oil, to consecrate.” This brings us to the sixth objective of Daniel 9:24, which is when our Messiah becomes the Temple in the New Jerusalem, eliminating the need for a brick and mortar temple.
Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for YHWH Elohiym Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Now that we have established the six objectives for the 490-year prophecy, we can easily see that the 70th Week has not been completed, for there are still five out of six items that are yet to be fulfilled.
In my humble opinion, the only objective that has been fulfilled is “To make reconciliation for iniquity,” which was fulfilled with our Messiah’s sacrifice. The remaining five items will be fulfilled during the ministry of the Two Witnesses, leading up to the second coming of Messiah.
As I previously explained, the word “weeks” in Hebrew is “shabuwa,” which can mean anything divisible by “seven.” It can mean a “seven-year sabbatical,” called a “shemitta” in Hebrew. But it can also mean a literal week, as in seven days.
This prophecy, I believe is specifically describing seven-weeks of years, which is 70 x 7 years. Within these 490 years, the Yahuwdiym (Jewish people) would to return to Jerusalem, (following the Babylonian Captivity) to rebuild their temple and their city.
The prophecy is broken down as folows:
Daniy’El (Daniel) 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Daniy’El (Daniel) 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
In Daniel 9:25, we are told that there would be seven weeks, and 62 weeks, for a total of 69 weeks.
*62 weeks (434 years) + 7 weeks (49 years) = 69 weeks (483 years).
*The first seven weeks (49 years) was for rebuilding the Temple.
*Adding 62 weeks (434 years), brings us to when our Messiah was crucified (cut off).
Why does the messenger break it up like this?
Why not tell Daniel that there would be a total of 483 years from the time of the decree in 457 B.C., until the end of Messiah’s ministry?
The first decree was given in 538/538 B.C. under King Cyrus, but it was enforced in 457 B.C. by King Artaxerxes.
I believe it is broken down this way, because there are different goals being met at each harbinger of time. In the case of this prophecy, the first “forty-nine years” (seven sabbatical years), was for building the temple.
In John 2:20 the religious leaders said that it took 46 years to build the temple, but because there were interruptions, (gaps where their building project was put on hold), the total amounted to 49 years.
The next period, of “four-hundred, and thirty years” (62 sabbatical years), was for rebuilding the city of Jerusalem, and the walls, during the days of Nehemiah.
Thus, there were three stages of the rebuilding process, and each one is described in a different way. Finally, (in Daniel 9:27), we are told that there would be one last “week” (a seven-year sabbatical), in which “in the midst of,” it, the sacrifices and oblations would “cease.”
The Hebrew word for “cease” is #H7673 in the Concordance, and it is the word “shabat” spelled differently than “shabbath,” #H7676.
The word “shabat” means “to cease, to desist, to fail, to suffer to be lacking.” In other words, the evening and the morning sacrifices continued, for forty more years, after our Messiah died, but they were not recognized in heaven by the Father. Hence, they “failed” to be acceptable to the Father in heaven.
It is because the entire nation defiled their Temple, and their altar with the shedding of innocent blood. Had the leadership of the nation, (the Sanhedrin), accepted Yahuwshuwa as their Messiah, they would have continued the daily sacrifices, under Yahuwshuwa as their High Priest. He would have returned in 70 A.D. as “Malkiy-Tzedeq” (Melchizedek), and he would have rebuilt the Tabernacle of David, as stated in prophecy (Isaiah 16:5; Amos 9:11; Acts 15:16).
But because they rejected Yahuwshuwa as their Messiah, their altar and their temple remained defiled for forty consecutive years leading up to the Roman Siege in 70 A.D.
To learn more about the historical “Forty-Year Yom Kippur Miracle,” see my other blogs:
“Jacob’s Time of Trouble & Daniel’s 70th Week.”
“Except Those Days Should Be Shortened.”
Dividing up these three periods, helps us understand the prophecy better:
*Seven Sabbaticals – 49 years to rebuild the Temple.
*Sixty-Two Sabbaticals – 434 years to rebuild the city and the walls.
*One Sabbatical – 7 years divided in half at the crucifixion of Messiah.
Keep in mind, that there were a few interruptions in this building process, which is why it took so long. There were also three kings involved in this process. The first decree (by King Cyrus) was enforced in 457 B.C. by Artaxerxes (the Greek name for Ahasuerus, Esther’s husband).
The final stage was to rebuild the walls, in the days of Nehemiah the prophet, and that decree was issued by King Darius. From all the background information I have already given, we should be able to extrapolate that from the time of King Cyrus’ decree, until our Messiah’s ministry began, is exactly 483 years!
Let’s do the math:
457 B.C. + 457 years = 0.
Now, subtract 457 from 483, and we get 26.
We must skip “year zero,” and jump to 1 A.D.
This means that our Messiah began his ministry in 27 A.D., on Yom Kippur, in a Jubilee Year, and his ministry for “Both Houses of Yisra’el” ended the moment he uttered those famous words “It is finished” (John 19:30).
If we count the days from Yom Kippur in 27 A.D. until Pesach (Passover) 28 A.D. on the Gregorian Calendar, it amounts to 180 days, which is exactly 6 months. Therefore, his ministry began on Yom Kippur, and extended for three consecutive Yom Kippurs, and then the extra 6 months until Passover.
That’s exactly 3.5 years, or 1,260 days. This perfectly fits the pattern of the animal sacrifices that Abraham was commanded to perform, in Genesis 15:9. He was instructed to divide three animals in half, and each of these animals were 3-years old.
Bereshiyth (Genesis) 15:9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
Please see my other blog about our Messiah’s birth on Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets), for you will see that his circumcision landed also on Yom Kippur, indicating that his circumcision would be “two-fold.” Eight days after his birth, he was circumcised in the flesh. However, ten days after his 30th birthday on Yom Teruah, he began his ministry on Yom Kippur. This signified his spiritual circumcision, indicated by the fact that he “divided” Isaiah 61:2 in half.
For those of “Abraham’s Seed” that are likened unto “The sands on the seashore” (earthly, physical descendants), he was circumcised as an infant on Yom Kippur. (see Genesis 15:5 & Genesis 22:17).
For those of “Abraham’s Seed” that are likened unto “The stars of the heavens” (born-again, spiritual descendants), he was initiated, or circumcised in the sense of beginning his ministry. His spiritual circumcision was for those who belong to the “Royal Priesthood” (1st Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6; 5:10).
Daniy’El (Daniel) 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
*Explanation: From the time that the Kingdom of Judah returned in the days of Ezra, (back to the land), was 434 years. Since that time, Messiah completed his ministry, leaving only one half of a week left, because he was “cut off.” The Hebrew word for “cut off” is “karath,” meaning “To make a covenant, by cutting flesh, passing between two animal pieces.”
This is the reason why the last “week” was “cut in half!” Now, we can finally determine who the “He” is in Daniel 9:27.
Daniy’El (Daniel) 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
*Explanation: The word “confirm” is the Hebrew word “gabar,” which means “to strengthen.” This means that our Messiah came to strengthen, the original Abrahamic Covenant, in which animal pieces were “cut in half” (karath)!
For this reason, I urge those reading this, do not buy into the lie that our Messiah’s ministry was only 70 weeks long. To make that theory work, a certain well-known Torah teacher (who I genuinely respect), has to remove John 6:4 from the Bible.
We are warned against adding or removing passages from Scripture, and there are severe consequences for doing so (Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-18). Our Messiah began his ministry on Yom Kippur in the 80th Jubilee Year, (27-28 A.D.), and it was immediately following his 40-day fast in the wilderness.
*Note: According to these calculations, the next Jubilee Year, should fall on Yom Kippur 2027-2028. After his 40-day fast, our Messiah visited his local Assembly in Nazareth, and he read from the scroll of Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) 61:1-2:
Luqas (Luke) 4:16 And He came to Natzareth, where He had been brought up. And according to His practice, He went into the congregation on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Luqas (Luke) 4:17 And the scroll of the prophet Yeshayahuw (Isaiah) was handed to Him. And having unrolled the scroll, He found the place where it was written:
Luqas (Luke) 4:18 “The Spirit of יהוה is upon Me, because He has anointed Me [Mashiyach] to bring the Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away crushed ones with a release,
Luqas (Luke) 4:19 to proclaim The Acceptable Year of YaHuWaH יהוה.
Why didn’t Yahwushuwa finish the verse of Isaiah 60:2? Why did he stop in the middle of the verse, and close the scroll? Because, when he returns, it will be on the final 120th Jubilee Year, and it will also be on Yom Kippur, which will also be “The Day of Vengeance of our Elohiym!”
Chazown (Revelation) 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
Yahuwshuwa only read “half of the verse,” and then closed the scroll, and handed it back to the Temple scribe. Right after that, he said to his Congregation: “Today this Scripture has been filled in your hearing.” After this, he compared his ministry to that of the prophet Eliyahuw (Elijah) whose ministry was exactly 3.5 years.
Luqas (Luke) 4:23 And He said to them, “No doubt, you shall say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard being done in Capernaum (Kephar Naḥum), do also here in Your country.’ ”
Luqas (Luke) 4:24 And He said, “Truly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.
Luqas (Luke) 4:25 “But truly I say to you, many widows were in Yisra’ěl in the days of Ěliyahuw, when the heaven was shut up for THREE YEARS AND SIX MONTHS, (3.5 years), and there was a great scarcity of food in all the land,
Luqas (Luke) 4:26 and Ěliyahuw was sent to none of them, but to Tzarephath (Sarepta), a city of Sidon (Tzidown) to a widow.”
Daniel’s 70th Week has been cut in half, with Messiah fulfilling the first half of it with his 3.5 years of ministry, followed by a 2,000-year gap called “The fullness of the gentiles” (Romans 11:25). The last half of Daniel’s 70th Week will be completed by the Two Witnesses, (for 1,260 days), followed by the catching away of the bride on Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets). Ten days later, Messiah will return with his bride on Yom Kippur.
The inhabitants of Jerusalem who did not previously accepted him, will be given a chance during those last ten days of tribulation (Revelation 2:10) to go and buy the oil of his name (Song of Solomon 1:3; Matthew 25:10-11). This is when they will be ready to meet him “face-to-face” at the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 12:10). To learn more see these other blogs:
