Trinitarians often use Daniel 7:9-22 to insinuate that there are “Two Lords” on the throne in heaven or “Two YaHuWaHs.”

But a thorough examination of the text will reveal something that most people have not noticed. Stay with me on this, and you will find out who these two elusive figures are.

I use the term “elusive,” only because there are so many that are confused, as to the identity of who “they” are. It is no mystery, once we reference the entire counsel of Scripture.

The first thing you will notice, is that “The Ancient of Days” bears the same description as “The Son of Man” in Revelation 1:13-14.

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

*Note: now pay attention to the next few verses to find out the interpretation:

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:18 But the qadowshiym (saints) of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.

*Note: Aha! There are two different characters being portrayed in these verses, and Daniel saw them both.

Who are “They?

Daniel saw “The Ancient of Days,” therefore, this cannot be solely the Heavenly Father, because he is invisible, and “NO MAN HAS SEEN THE FATHER AT ANY TIME!” (See John 1:18; John 6:46; 1st John 4:12).

Daniel could not have “seen” the invisible Father. This tells us that the Ancient of Days is “The visible image” of the Father (Colossians 1:15), who is the Son, (the pre-incarnate Messiah), who is the eternal one, Melchizedek! See Psalms 110:4 & Hebrews 7:3-4.

In Daniel 7:9-10, the description given for “The Ancient of Days matches the same description given by the Apostle John in Revelation.

Chazown (Revelation) 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire.

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:9 “...the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool..

But who then is “The Son of man?”

The interpretation was given to Daniel in verse 18, as he was told that the “saints,” the “set-part ones” (qadowshiym) shall take the kingdom and possess it forever!

Daniel 7:18 uses the Aramaic word for “saint,” which is #H6918 in the Hebrew Concordance, “qaddiysh,” and this word means “holy one,” or it can be plural as in “holy ones.” Therefore, the holy ones are the bride of Messiah, who shall rule and reign with their bridegroom for a thousand years on earth (Revelation 1:6; 5:10; 20:6). When a bride becomes “one flesh” with her bridegroom, she literally becomes his body!

Therefore, the “Son of man” is referring to the CORPORATE BODY OF MESSIAH!

In Ephesians 2:15 the united Two Houses of Yisra’el are called “The one new man,” and in Revelation 12:5, they are called “The man-child,” for they are the resurrected corporate “Two Witnesses!” To learn more about who the Two Witnesses are, see this blog: Who Are the Two Witnesses?

In Exodus 4:22, the son of YaHuWaH is the nation of Yisra’el:

Shemoth (Exodus) 4:22 “…. Thus says YHWH, Yisra’el is my son, even my firstborn.”

In Ezekiel 3, YaHuWaH spoke to Ezekiel, and called him “Son of man,” and then commissioned him to be a watchman to the House of Yisra’el.

In Hosea 11:1, YaHuWaH refers to the nation of Yisra’el as “His son!”

This corporate man-child, or one new man, shall rule and reign with Messiah for a thousand years (Revelation 20:6), as kings and priests (Revelation 1:6; 5:10).

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the qowdeshiym (saints), and prevailed against them;

Daniyel (Daniel) 7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the qowdeshiym (saints) of the most High; and the time came that the qowdeshiym (saints) possessed the kingdom

Daniel saw two different characters: “The Ancient of Days & the Son of Man.”

Daniel was shown that the qowdeshiym (the saints), the Yisra’elites are going to possess the kingdom, and they are the ones being represented here as “The Son of man!”

Why did our Messiah refer to himself as “The Son of man,” while he was here on earth?

Romans 8:3 provides us with the answer. It says that Elohiym sent his own Son “In the likeness of sinful flesh.” This means that he came to represent sinful humanity!

The term “Son of man,” is used to describe our Messiah, in his finite, mortal existence, when he came to earth to die for us sinners.

However, the term “Son of man,” is also used to describe his corporate body of believers!

This is the reason why the bride is often referred to as “The body of Messiah.” Now, this may seem strange, because a bride does not have a male body, for she is a female.

You see, when the bride of Messiah is in her mortal, non-glorified state, she is referred to as a female. However, once the bride is resurrected, she takes on the same form as her bridegroom, as his corporate body. Hence, the bride becomes “One new man, the man-child, the body of Messiah, etc.

To understand fully, we must establish that our Messiah, Yahuwshuwa is the creator of heaven and earth (Colossians 1:16). John 1:1 tells us that he was From the beginning, with Elohiym, and he was Elohiym.”

Hebrews 7:3 tells us that our Messiah is Melchizedek: Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of Elohiym; abides a priest continually.”

Hebrews 7:3 is a repeat of Psalm 110:1-4, where Yah says that Melchizedek sits at his right hand... and abides a priest forever.”

In Luke 20:40-41, our Messiah told the Pharisees that he is the “The same Melchizedek whom David wrote about!”

The word “ancient,” in “Ancient of Days,” is a Chaldean word  #H6268 in the Hebrew Concordance, “attiyq,” which means “antique, ancient, to remove.”

It comes from the idea that our Messiah removed himself from heaven, (from his infinite, eternal existence), and took on the form of a humble servant, a mortal, finite, human being.

Many people argue that it is the Father (alone) who is the Ancient of Days, (even though he is invisible, and has never been seen by any man). But what if I told you that the Ancient of Days is the Father and the Son (together) as one being?

Isaiah 9:6 tells us that the “Son born to us,” is also “The Everlasting Father!

In Yahuwchanon (John) 14:9-11, Our Messiah plainly told us “I am in the Father, and the Father is in me....He that has seen me has seen the Father.”

Therefore, if Daniel “saw” the Ancient of Days, he was seeing both the Father & the Son at the same time!

Yahuwchanon (John) 14:7 If you had known me, you should have known my Father also: and from henceforth you know him, and have seen him.

Yahuwchanon (John) 14:8 Philip said unto him, Master, show us the Father, and it suffices us.

Yahuwchanon (John) 14:9 Yahuwshuwa said unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet have you not known me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father?

Yahuwchanon (John) 14:10 Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works.

Yahuwchanon (John) 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Colossians 1:15 tells us that Yahuwshuwa haMashiyach, is “The image” of the “Invisible Elohiym!”

In other words, Daniel saw the invisible Father manifested as his visible image, who is also the Son!

Another Manifestation of Elohiym as The Son of Man

People often assume that “The Ancient of Days,” is the Father, while “The Son of Man,” is our Messiah.

However, (as I previously pointed out), Daniel could not have “seen” the invisible Father, for he has never been seen by any man, at any time (past, present or future).

Yahuwchanon (John) 1:18 No man has seen Elohiym at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

Yahuwchanon (John) 6:46 Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of Elohiym, he has seen the Father.

Therefore, we must conclude that “The Ancient of Days” is describing our Messiah & Creator in his eternal, infinite existence. In other words, the Ancient of Days is the Father wearing his visible image which is called “The Son.” However, “The Son of Man” is describing our Messiah as a finite human being, who came to earth to die for the sins of humanity.

Daniel saw YaHuWaH in both forms, and in both realties at once! He saw him as the eternal one that has always existed, hence “The Ancient of Days.” But he also saw him as the one that would come to earth as a human being to save humanity, hence “The Son of Man.”

Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

This is obviously describing the eternal one, (YaHuWaH), as the Pre-Incarnate Messiah with his visible form. As the Father, he is invisible, and has never been seen by any man, at any time (John 1:18; John 6:46).

Therefore, Daniel could not have seen the invisible Father, nor could he describe him as one whose garment was white as snow, having hair like pure wool.

Revelation 1:13 & 14 repeats the same description of him:

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

The eternal Son of Elohiym is the only one with a visible image that can be seen on the throne in heaven.

Chazown (Revelation) 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and ONE sat on the throne.

Chazown (Revelation) 4:3 And HE that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Now, I know what many of you may be thinking right now. You are asking yourselves

“But isn’t our Messiah seated at the right hand of the Father?”

The answer is “Yes, absolutely!”

But let’s get one thing straight. The phrase “The right hand of power,” is not necessarily describing physicality, but rather a position of authority.

We have often heard of a business owner describing his partner as “My right-hand man.” It does not mean that the business partner is always “At his right hand.” It simply means that they share a partnership.

The term “right hand of power” is a Hebrew Idiom denoting that our Messiah is the “right hand” of the Father. He is dubbed “The Arm of YaHuWaH” in Isaiah 53:1.

In Exodus 6:6, YaHuWaH says “I will redeem you with a stretched out arm.”

When YaHuWaH describes his Arm, he is referring to his pre-incarnate, visible image that he calls The Son!

Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

Daniel 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed

In eternity, both realities exist at once. The past, present, and future coincide. Thus, it was possible for Daniel to see the Ancient of Days (the Fathers visible form, who is also Messiah in his eternal form), and the Son of Man (Messiah in his finite human form).

Why Do You Call Me Good?

Another anomaly that people grapple with, is the fact that our Messiah questioned a man who called him good. At first glance, it would appear that he is objecting to the man calling him good, because he gives glory to the invisible Father in heaven, and says that Elohiym is the only one who is good.

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Mattithyahuw (Matthew) 19:17 And he said unto him, Why do you call me good? there is none good but one, that is, Elohiym: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.

Mark 10:18 And Yahuwshuwa said unto him, Why do you call me good? there is none good but one, that is, Elohiym.

There are several other places in Scripture, where our Messiah is plainly referred to as Elohiym. Therefore, he was not denying that he is Elohiym, or that he is good.

Yahuwchanon (John) 1:1-3

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohiym, and the Word was Elohiym.

2 The same was in the beginning with Elohiym.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Colossians 2:9 For in him dwells all the fulness of Elohiym bodily.

What he was doing, was showing us that humanity (as a whole) is sinful, and because he came in the form of a human being, he did not want us to idolize human beings in general.

Instead, he was pointing us to his infinite eternal existence, which is Elohiym!

And since he was fully Elohiym, he was essentially saying “The only part of me that is good, is the eternal part, which is Elohiym...but the part of me that is going to become a substitute for the sins of the world---that part of me will perish.

Our Messiah exchanged his mortal and corruptible body, for that which is immortal and incorruptible. Therefore, he was showing us that only that which will remain forever, is truly good. Everything else in this world is growing old and decaying.
